Today we’d like to introduce you to Anastasiia Pavlenko.
Hi Anastasiia , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my tattoo career working in traditional tattoo studios, where I worked on a percentage and was still figuring out who I wanted to be as an artist. Over time, I developed my own recognizable style, focusing on fine-line work, delicate details, and soft shading, and gradually built a loyal client base around it.
A lot has changed in a relatively short period of time. About a year and a half into this journey, I went from working for other studios to opening my own LLC and running my own business. Today, I work independently from my own private space, manage my own clients and schedule, and I’m often booked one to two months in advance.
I definitely still have a lot of room to grow, and I see this as just the beginning. But looking back at where I started and where I am today, I’m really proud of how much I’ve been able to build in such a short time — not only as a tattoo artist, but also as a business owner.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was building my own client base and finding my place as an artist. It takes time for people to recognize your work, trust you, and eventually start coming specifically for your style rather than simply looking for a tattoo.
Another big turning point was leaving the studio where I had worked for over a year and deciding to become completely independent. It was exciting, but also intimidating because suddenly I was responsible for everything myself, not only tattooing, but also managing clients, marketing, scheduling, finances, and all the other parts of running a business.
There have definitely been moments of uncertainty along the way, but every challenge pushed me to become more independent and more confident in what I do. I’m still learning constantly, but I think that’s a big part of building something of your own.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a tattoo artist specializing in fine line work, delicate botanical designs, and soft, detailed shading. I especially love creating floral pieces and designs that feel elegant, feminine, and natural on the body.
One of the things that is most important to me is creating custom work. I don’t simply recreate reference images or copy another artist’s tattoo. I take my client’s ideas, references, and personal meaning and turn them into an original design in my own style. I also pay a lot of attention to placement and how the tattoo flows with the natural shape of the body.
What I’m most proud of is that people have started recognizing my work and coming to me specifically because they want my style. For me, that is one of the biggest compliments an artist can receive. I’ve worked hard to develop a visual identity that feels like my own, while still making every tattoo personal to the person wearing it.
I think what sets me apart is the combination of delicacy and detail in my work, as well as how much I care about the entire experience, from the initial idea and design process to the finished tattoo.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
One thing I wish I understood earlier is that you don’t have to be the right artist for everyone. Finding your own style, setting boundaries, and learning to say no to projects that aren’t the right fit can actually help you grow and attract the right clients.
I would also say to be patient and consistent. Focus on improving your work, learn from every experience, and don’t be afraid to change direction as you grow.
