Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Moschell.
Hi Paul, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Paul Moschell is an American mixed-media artist whose work celebrates imagination, transformation, humor, and the beauty of the handmade. Working across assemblage, sculpture, watercolor, collage, and found-object art, Moschell creates richly detailed worlds populated by eccentric characters, animals, dolls, and fantastical figures. His distinctive visual language combines folk art sensibilities, outsider art influences, vintage Americana, and a playful sense of storytelling.
A hallmark of Moschell’s work is his ability to transform ordinary and discarded objects into extraordinary works of art. Vintage toys, doll parts, matchboxes, textiles, found ephemera, and salvaged materials are reimagined as whimsical sculptures and assemblages that blur the boundaries between fine art, craft, and personal narrative. His watercolor paintings and miniature works display the same sense of wonder, often featuring expressive portraits, curious creatures, and dreamlike scenes infused with humor and humanity.

Paul keeps his art studio in the Lowry neighborhood on the west side of Denver and it is open by appointment when he is not in there working away.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Growing older. I have always felt like I never grew up. My work comes from childhood inspirations and experiences. Functioning in real life has been a challenge. Anxiety inducing. But making my work replants me back into my youth.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in painting, assemblage sculpture, creating small scale and intimate pieces, and collecting and working with oddities. I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve been able to share my work with friends, neighbors, and celebrities who I’ve admired over the years, including Carlos Santana, Sade, and Ryan Murphy.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe in inspiration, joy, anxiety, depression and the struggle to separate myself from the real world and finding solace in the process of my work
