Today we’d like to introduce you to Daisy Adams.
Hi Daisy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Daisy Adams, after becoming a stay-at-home mom and spending those years raising my children, I started thinking about what I wanted to do for myself while still being able to be present for my family. In fall 2022 while talking with my husband about wanting to create something of my own, I shared my idea with him. He told me, “Go for it This is your chance to pursue something you love and be creative.” Those words gave me the encouragement I needed to take a chance on myself, and that’s when the story of Ollu began.
What started as an idea and dream officially became a business in April 2023. I began with children’s clothing and, as my business grew, I discovered how much I loved creating personalized and meaninful pieces. Inspired by my Mexican heritage, I began hand-stitching sweaters, a craft I learned from my grandmother when I was just 12 years old. I eventually added personalized hand-stitched sweaters and machine embroidery, which have become such a special and meaningful part of my business.
One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been the incredible support I’ve received from the community. Seeing families come back, recommend my business to others, and support my small business has meant so much to me.
Building a business while being a mom has definitely come with challenges, but it has also shown me that taking a chance on yourself can lead to something really special. What started as a way to create something of my own has grown into a business that I’m incredibly proud of, and I’m excited to continue growing and creating pieces that families can treasure, and continuing to build something that my children can one day look back on and be proud of. Most importantly, I hope my story encourages other moms and woman to take a chance on themselves. You don’t have to have everything figured out to start- you just have to be willing to take that first step.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced as a small business owner has been finding new ways to grow my business while continuing to stay motivated and consistent. Running a business can be unpredictable, and there are definitely days when the stress, slow sales, and uncertainly make me question whether I should keep going.
I’ve had to learn how to adapt, try new things, and find different ways to reach customers while staying true to what makes my business special. Balancing my business with being a mom has also been a challenge, because there are only so many hours of the day, and I want to be present for my family while still giving business the time and attention it needs.
There have been days when quitting has felt like the easier choice, but I remind myself of how far I’ve become and why I started in the first place. My biggest goal now is to find sustainable ways to grow OLLU, reach more customers, expand my wholesale clothing line and personalized embroidery services, and continue building a business that can grow alongside my family. I know there will continue to be challenges, but I’ve learned that success isn’t about never struggling- it’s about continuing to move forward, even on the days when it feels difficult.

OLLU is a children’s clothing and embroidery business that I started as a stay-at-home mom who wanted to create something of my own while still being present for my family.
One of the things that makes OLLU unique is my hand-stitched sweaters, and what sets OLLU apart is that. everything has a personal touch. I’m not just selling children’s clothing; I’m creating pieces that I hope families will love. keep, and remember. Whether it’s a personalized sweater, and embroidered name, or a special design, I put a lot of love and attention into each piece.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Denver has been a fantastic city to grow and now I get to grow my business here.
