Today we’d like to introduce you to Rody Aldren.
Hi Rody, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m an artist, label owner, and the founder of Rocky Mountain Records, born in Texas and raised in Colorado. My path into music has always been a mix of creative expression and business strategy. While my sound is built on a blend of contemporary hip-hop, melodic rap, Latin-trap, and urban alternative, I’ve always approached my career with an entrepreneurial mindset, pairing my passion for songwriting with a degree in finance to retain full ownership and creative control over my work. I have also always had the goal in mind that Rocky Mountain Records will open up doors for artists in Colorado to expand to a global stage. Building an independent label from the ground up meant taking on every role early on: writer, producer, marketer, and strategist. Over time, that DIY foundation expanded from dropping singles and projects into building a real platform for live events, collaborative projects, and community impact. A major part of that journey has been running our “Everybody Eats” benefit concerts, using our music and shows to directly support local food pantries. Today, I’m focused on continuing to grow the Rocky Mountain Records imprint, expanding our catalog, starting an open mic series, and scaling both the creative and operational sides of the brand without compromising on independence or morals.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ll admit it has been a rocky road if you get the gist. Graduating high school right before Covid I was homeless and my first attempt at college I was living in my car. But my dreams only grew in the face of adversity and once I got back on my feet I made a plan to pursue music and business at Aims Community College in Greeley Colorado. While working 2-4 jobs I got my associates and my bachelors in Finance while simultaneously releasing music, planning concerts and events, and doing my best to give back to the community in the process.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Rocky Mountain Records, I serve as both a recording artist and independent label head. My specialization lies at the intersection of music production and creative entrepreneurship—fusing contemporary hip-hop, melodic rap, Latin-trap, and urban alternative while controlling the business infrastructure behind the releases.
I’m best known for taking a fully independent, hands-on approach to my career. Drawing on a background in finance, I handle everything from writing and catalog management to promotional strategy and live event production. Rather than waiting for external opportunities, I build the systems to launch projects and host events on my own terms.
What I’m most proud of, and what truly sets me apart; is using music as a tool for tangible community impact. Through our “Everybody Eats” initiative, we organize benefit concerts that directly support local food pantries. For me, success isn’t just about streaming numbers or growing the brand; it’s about leveraging our platform to feed and uplift the community around us. That blend of sound, independent business strategy, and real-world impact is the foundation of everything I do.
