Life & Work with Jaylynn Bird of San Diego

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaylynn Bird.

Hi Jaylynn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Growing up as my mother’s Velcro kid, I traveled with her everywhere while she captured memories for people in love. Finally in grade school I enjoyed being a part of yearbook committee between pausing moments in time & designing full books for reminiscing the year on. Then college, earning my bachelors in photographic arts… I was made for this.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Self-employed in this economy? Enough said.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I photograph moments & memories, especially of people in love. My other niches are headshots (studio or out in the wild), and boudoir.

I’m most proud of the consistency & community I’ve created with sticking to something I love even when it’s hard.

My ability to pivot, read a room, and connect with all sorts of different people has helped me level up in the industry.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Printing photos. Digital always gets wiped, or forgotten… but printables, photo books, are tangibly forever.

Pricing:

  • $5000 average for weddings
  • $375 average for headshots
  • $485 average for boudoir
