Today we’d like to introduce you to Amick Viccellio.
Hi Amick , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Now this is a question all right! As with most, my story starts in childhood. Parents got divorced young and it crushed our family, especially my father. My mother and father both had demons that never got dealt with by the time I came around, and they hit and hit hard. My father really struggled with the divorce as my mother left him and had an affair with another woman. Devastating for my father, me as well but didn’t know how to comprehend it at the time and boy oh boy did that show up in my adult life. Caveat–I love both of them very much and have so much respect for both of them today.
That being said my father got remarried and did it quickly and little did we know that he married someone with very serious mental illness and physically and verbally abused him where I would have to stand up for him and this was in high school. Being very insecure I wanted to be liked MORE THAN ANYTHING, always a bit of a wild personality so I fell into drugs and alcohol very hard and that lasted for a while. Things were so chaotic at home, of course I eventually got kicked out at 17 years old and still wanted to party. BARELY graduated high school as I was entrenched in the drug scene and no viable adult at the time was able to help.
That lifestyle continued for some years and was in out of jail and rehabs. Finally got it together in my early twenties and stayed sober all throughout college and even bartended SOBER all night at one of the greatest bars in Chicago which helped get through and pay for college.
Started getting into fitness and running and became a personal trainer and I’ve ran 3 ultra marathons one 50 miler and two 100’s, this was before David Goggins by the way.
So much more here but don’t want to bore you. Either way, I’m happily married now and my wife and I are about to adopt. I write poetry ALL THE TIME and have just finished my book Philosopher Pirate. I’m highly creative and open and still insecure and constantly working on the soul to improve my success. So hard lol.
The book I wrote is about all my experiences both good and bad and all the books I’ve read on philosophy and how I’ve integrated so much of the ancient teaching into my modern life, especially with AI and entertainment, so easy to numb, to run, TO ESCAPE constantly.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh my God! Not a smooth road whatsoever, but I do recognize it could’ve been much worse. Addiction to drugs and alcohol, dealing with childhood abuse as an adult, having to check my behavior and get my self-control back.
struggled hard as an actor in LA, but so much adventure in between all of the good and bad. Traveled the country as a child, had to learn to adapt to new schools and new environments constantly.
Struggle with confidence and self-esteem all throughout childhood and adulthood. But I’m still here, still breathing, still got a beating heart and a working mind. I do a ton of writing that really helps, meditation, crazy fitness activities, meeting so many different people from so many different walks of life.
Seen so many industries, bartender, waiter, manager, college, almost didn’t graduate high school, insane childhood, sobriety, then weed but no alcohol acting, writing, traveling the world and in some cases, barely making it out with my life!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m in sales for foundational home repair. It’s okay, would much rather be a full-time writer lol.

Wild child, outgoing, talked to EVERYONE, open, charismatic, dumb, funny, angry, driven by play and fantasy.
