Rising Stars: Meet Delton Demarest of Denver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Delton Demarest.

Hi Delton, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started out as an uneducated artist, but upon receiving training I have been creating for the past two decades. These days I work in nearly all genres, illustration, graphic design, traditional painting, gallery painting, commercial art, public and commercial mural creation. I believe that to maintain this occupation at least for me I had to hone my skills in all of these categories to sustain relevance and keep work coming my direction.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think all in all I can’t complain, the road always has bumps along the way. Of course working for yourself has its ups and downs. All I can say is stand up for yourself and your craft, just like any other business know that your time is relevant and worth every penny.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an illustrator, first and foremost. I was educated with these traditional practices and specialize in them. I would say I am known for simply creating great paintings. I would hope that any of my clients would say the same.
I think I would say that I am most proud of myself for sustaining what is a grueling task, creating realistic art; which is often taken for granted. I think what sets me apart from others is my style. I have a distinct style, and can adapt it accommodate the needs of clients, galleries, business owners, restaurants, corporations etc.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Please venture to look at my work, tell me your thoughts and suggestions. I am always a constant student, learning about the craft is as important as creating it.
