Today we’d like to introduce you to Platinum Divaz Dance Company.
Hi Platinum Divaz, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Platinum Divaz Dance Co. is a dynamic organization dedicated to empowering young girls through dance, step, and cheer. Established in 2013, this competitive traveling team specializes in Hip Hop, jazz and Majorette, and is recognized as the longest-running team in its category. The organization focuses on fostering a strong sense of community among youth by promoting values like strength, health, self-confidence, discipline, and appreciation.
In addition to their dance programs, Platinum Divaz offers a tutoring program, a leadership program, and numerous volunteer opportunities, all designed to support the personal and emotional growth of the 30 to 50 girls they serve annually. The organization also hosts/participate a variety of community events, reinforcing their commitment to making a positive impact. Through their work, Platinum Divaz Dance Co. continues to inspire self-love, respect, and dignity, leaving a lasting impact on both its members and the broader community.
Our target customers are young girls aged 6-18 who are looking for a positive outlet to develop their skills, confidence, and sense of community. (b) We address the need for structured, supportive environments where girls can build self-esteem, learn discipline, and develop leadership skills while engaging in physical activities like dance, step, and cheer. (c) Our unique approach combines competitive dance training with educational programs, leadership development, and community engagement, offering a holistic growth experience that extends beyond the dance floor.
Over the next 12 months, our primary goal is to expand our programs to reach more youth and deepen our community impact. Our main challenge will be securing the necessary resources and partnerships to support this growth.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes, the road has definitely been challenging over the years. Working with youth means working with many different personalities, ages, skill levels, and individual needs, which often requires constantly adjusting teaching styles and adapting our programs to best support each child in a way that helps them succeed.
Another challenge has been gaining consistent community support — whether that is encouraging attendance at events, securing sponsorships, fundraising, or finding people who truly believe in and invest in what we do. As times continue to change, we have also had to evolve our organization and adjust how we operate to stay relevant and continue meeting the needs of today’s youth.
On a personal level, after 13 years of leading this organization, I have also had to adjust as I’ve gotten older and can no longer do certain things the way I once did, which has challenged me to rethink my teaching methods and leadership approach. While these challenges have not always been easy, they have been part of the learning process, helping both me and the organization grow stronger. In the end, change pushes us to improve, and every challenge has helped make us better.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Platinum Divaz is proud to be one of the longest-running hip-hop and majorette dance organizations in Colorado. For more than 13 years, we’ve specialized in hip-hop, majorette, jazz, cheer, and performance while creating a positive, family-oriented environment where youth can build confidence, discipline, leadership, and lifelong friendships.
We’re known for bringing high-energy, entertaining performances to every event, our commitment to community service, and our signature call-out—”Divaz… you Know!”—which audiences proudly shout back with us. It’s become a tradition that many people look forward to at parades, festivals, and community events.
What truly sets us apart is that we’re much more than a dance team. We are a mentorship organization dedicated to helping young people succeed both on and off the dance floor. We strive to provide a safe, supportive space where every child feels seen, valued, encouraged, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Our founders, Chiniqua Jackson and Stanisha Evans, have dedicated more than 16 years to cheer, dance, and youth development. What began as a shared passion from our own experiences in cheer, step, and dance has grown into a lifelong commitment to serving youth through Platinum Divaz. Seeing our dancers gain confidence, overcome challenges, and develop into strong young leaders is what makes us most proud.
Our exceptional coaching staff brings a wealth of experience to our program. Coach Muff (Reniece) has an extensive background in dance and cheer and serves as a dance teacher with Denver Public Schools. Janei is an experienced dancer, founder of the 5th Element Center of Dance, and director of her own adult dance team. Coach C (Cedric) is a professionally trained dancer with years of experience and also teaches at Cleo Parker Robinson Dance. Coach Teh (Tehlissa) brings valuable experience in both cheer and dance.
We are also incredibly fortunate to have an outstanding parent committee (Sequoia, Jenny, Osharron, Sarah, Brie, Justine, Jessica). Their dedication, support, and belief in our mission help make everything we do possible. They understand that Platinum Divaz is about building futures, not just performances, and their commitment strengthens our organization every day.
The relationships we’ve built, the lives we’ve impacted, and the community we’ve created are what we’re most proud of. Platinum Divaz isn’t just a team—we’re a family dedicated to inspiring the next generation.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
One of the most important things I have learned throughout this journey is patience. Over the years, I have worked with children ranging from ages 4 to 21, all with different personalities, learning styles, skill levels, and personal challenges. Along the way, I have also worked with many parents and adults who bring their own perspectives and personalities, which has taught me the importance of remaining adaptable, understanding, and patient in every situation.
Beyond working with others, patience has also been one of the biggest lessons for me personally. I have learned to trust timing, understand that not everything happens immediately, and recognize that growth takes time for both individuals and organizations. I have learned not to stress every obstacle, knowing that things often fall into place when they are meant to. Patience has taught me humility, resilience, and the understanding that while everyone may not get things right away, with time, support, and consistency, progress will come.
