Today we’d like to introduce you to Neji Hasni.
Hi Neji, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
There is a “global” consensus among intellectuals, geniuses, wise men, and those with pure (zero-envy) intentions, who interacted with me, about my super-high standard. Here’s their feedback’s compilation:
Dr. Neji Hasni is fair, firm, and friendly. He has a balance between his three axes: the physical axis, the intellectual axis, and the affective axis. His journey is a remarkable example of turning strong technical roots into visionary leadership. He began his career as an engineer in the Tunisian Navy (Trained within the US Navy), where he built a disciplined foundation in command and operations, technology, then expanded that expertise through a Ph.D. and three master’s of science degrees in Computer Science and ICT. Over the past 36+ years, he developed a high-reputation for innovation, strategic thinking, and impactful problem-solving. He went on to found Nifty and Ad-Hoc Service Advisory (NASA), earn international recognition, speak at major global conferences, montor and coach entrepreneurs (via Mercy Corps: The global team of humanitarians working together on the front lines of crisis, disaster, poverty, and climate change), and ultimately take on executive leadership in AI and cybersecurity. Today, he continues to combine technical depth, entrepreneurial energy, and human-centered leadership to build trust, partnerships, and lasting value.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all — Dr. Neji Hasni’s journey was shaped by challenges, discipline, and reinvention. He began in the Tunisian Navy, which gave him a strong technical and leadership foundation, but he then had to push himself further through years of advanced study and demanding professional experience. From there, he built a career across society, academia, research, and entrepreneurship, often working in complex and fast-evolving fields like ICT, Sustainable Development, AI, Cybersecurity, R&D, and Holistic Security. What stands out is that he neither took a linear path nor submitted and gave in to obstacles and to the attempts to break his bones — he had to constantly struggle, adapt, learn, and prove himself in new environments. Those challenges seem to have sharpened his resilience, broadened his expertise, and helped him become the kind of leader he is today.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Dr. Neji Hasni is a multidisciplinary ICT leader and entrepreneur whose work spans AI, sustainable development, cybersecurity, telecoms, ontology/R&D, teaching, and holistic security advisory — he’s best known for founding Nifty & Ad‑Hoc Service Advisory (NASA), leading R&D in making secure communications as well as software development tools interoperable, and holding senior executive roles in AI and cybersecurity.

What sets him apart
Depth plus breadth: military-engineering discipline combined with advanced academic credentials (PhD + multiple MSc) and 36+ years of hands‑on experience across research, academia, and industry.
Cross-domain impact: practical R&D (secure cellular frameworks), ontology and interoperability work, and executive leadership in AI/cybersecurity — a combination uncommon among ICT executives.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Dr. Neji Hasni often speaks through the lens of resilience rather than comfort. Coming from a poor family and a difficult environment, his childhood was less about easy memories and more about responsibility, perseverance, and the determination to succeed academically while supporting his family. If there is a defining memory behind his journey, it is likely the experience of hardship itself — the moment he realized education could become a path out of struggle and a way to create a better future for those he loved.
