Rising Stars: Meet Lindsey Bumann of Denver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Bumann.

Hi Lindsey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I went to Cosmetology school in Nebraska when I was 19 years old. I have now been behind the chair for 15 years! I’m proud to say that I have built two separate clienteles, once in Nebraska and then again when I moved to Colorado. I worked very hard to build my business by honing in on my skills and deciding which services I’d like to offer. I’m in a private suite at Sola studios in Westminster now, and I feel very fortunate to share that space with a group of extremely loyal clients.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing worth doing is ever easy! I worked long hours at the salon, including nights and weekends while trying to build my books, and I supplemented my income for the first few years by waiting tables and bartending on the side. Becoming successful in this industry doesn’t happen overnight, and you can’t do it lazily. I tried to find any and all ways I could think of to network, make connections, and get my name out there. I am fortunate to now be in a place where I can tailor my schedule to my own needs and not feel so burnt out.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a blonding and color specialist. I love painting and creating beautiful heads of hair, while maintaining the hair’s integrity and keeping it healthy. My clients are a walking advertisement of my work, so I need it to look excellent! I pride myself on making my clients’ hair look just as good, if not better, than their inspo photos, and giving them the hair of their dreams. I absolutely love the creativity behind my job, and knowing that I’m providing services that not everyone else can. I am proud of myself for powering through the slow months, the hard times and the difficult clients along the way. When I’m not behind the chair, I teach fitness classes, and I think having two creative and healthy jobs ultimately makes me a happier person with a beautiful outlook on life.

What were you like growing up?
I was surprisingly very shy! I didn’t like to be on stage or in the limelight. I always had a smaller group of friends, I’ve been a homebody my whole life, and I have gravitated towards animals more than humans since I can remember. I was always in to beauty, makeup, fashion magazines, etc., so it does make sense that I chose this industry.
