Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Hamilton.
Hi Megan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started ~15 years ago in 2010 making hip hop beats in Minneapolis, then went to my first Electric Daisy Carnival and it completely changed my perspective.
My first love was trance music (A&B Group Therapy was my jam), then eventually house music (obsessed with that Nicky Romero cowbell), and at some point in all that I discovered the Ghetto Funk label. It became my primary goal in life to get signed to this label, even though my production quality was still pretty nonexistent at that point. But I huffed and puffed and spent time in the software until I had an EP to submit to Ghetto Funk, and to my absolute surprise, they signed it.
I continued to make a lot of 100-110bpm stuff by myself, but was simultaneously beginning to collaborate with house producer, Ghost Channels. We had a series of successful future house tracks which lead to my collaborations with Aaron Jackson. We began to be signed to several labels throughout this era, including Discovery Project (Insomniac), Mixmash Records (Laidback Luke), Audiophile, Monstercat, and more.
Over the years, house music has really resonated with me and I think this is reflected in my discography. I take the funky energy with me no matter what I make, and I think that’s allowed me to span genres without recourse. It’s a slow burn.
I had my 100th release this year, and I’m currently making the most art/music I’ve ever made in my life, consistently. My new album “Friday Night Breakfast Club” comes out October 27th, the first single drops on September 29th. It’s a mosaic of what I’ve learned over the last decade, a melange of what I’ve listened to and the experiences I’ve had. I told myself I would produce 30 tracks for this project and then cut it down to around 12. I ended up making 25 and we cut it to 14. I’m really proud of it and I hope y’all can appreciate where I’m at right now.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This path is definitely not for the weak, it takes a special kind of person to be able to weather so much instability while remaining creative and dedicated. Without the team members I’ve had a long the way, I definitely couldn’t have done it! After essentially touring for the last 10 years nonstop I’ve had my fair share of speed bumps but I’ve never felt more resilient, resourceful, or confident in my ability to handle almost anything.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I do all the artwork for my project and that’s been really fulfilling. The cover art for Friday Night Breakfast Club was a really exciting piece to make. And I think you definitely need other mediums as an outlet to avoid getting burnt out on a specific medium. It also probably saves me a lot of money.
This year, I won 2nd place of 87 entries in a Dirtybird production contest, they signed the track and I’m really stoked I was able to check this one off my list.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I’ve been touring here for over a decade now and just recently moved to Denver last year (2025). One of my favorite things / most unique things about Denver is that you have 2-3 compelling shows/exhibits/etc to choose from on literally every single night of the week. And sometimes it’s so difficult to choose and you don’t really see this vivaciousness and consistency in other cities, it’s truly special to the art/music movement happening in Denver.
