Exploring Life & Business with Taylor Hornbaker of Method Pediatric Therapy and Wellness, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Hornbaker.

Hi Taylor, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have been in the field for 13 years, with my career centered almost entirely around pediatrics as a Speech-Language Pathologist. I began my career in a public school setting, working within an early childhood special education program while also practicing in a pediatric private practice. That combination gave me the opportunity to understand children and families across very different environments and helped shape my belief that the most meaningful progress happens when care considers the whole child, not simply one isolated skill.

I then transitioned fully into private practice, where I spent nine years providing direct clinical care while also growing into leadership roles within the practice. During that time, I gained invaluable experience not only as a clinician, but also in understanding the operational, collaborative, and relational pieces that make a therapy practice successful. I had the opportunity to work closely with families, other disciplines, schools, and community providers, and I continued to see the value of providing care that feels individualized, collaborative, and deeply connected to a family’s everyday life.

Ultimately, those experiences led me to create my own private practice. I wanted to build the type of practice I believed families and clinicians deserved: one where care could be highly personalized, communication could remain open and transparent, and multiple disciplines could work together rather than in silos.

Today, our practice provides Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology services with a whole-child, family-centered approach. Building the practice has allowed me to bring together everything I valued throughout my career clinical excellence, thoughtful collaboration, strong relationships with families, and the flexibility to create care plans that are truly tailored to each child.

What began as my own career in pediatric speech-language pathology has grown into something much larger: a multidisciplinary practice and team committed to helping children and families feel supported, understood, and confident in the care they receive.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been less about the road being difficult and more about learning how to turn a very clear vision into something tangible. The challenge has been building the systems, team, and structure around an idea that felt different from the traditional therapy model.
That process has been incredibly motivating. It has pushed me to think beyond how services have always been delivered and instead ask what families in our community truly need, what may be missing, and how we can create a more collaborative, personalized, and elevated experience.
There has been a lot of learning along the way, but that has been one of the most rewarding parts of building the practice. Each challenge has helped refine the vision and move us closer to creating a model of care that fills a space I felt was largely untapped in our community.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Method Pediatric Therapy & Wellness is a multidisciplinary pediatric practice providing Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy services. We specialize in highly individualized, whole-child care that looks beyond a diagnosis or isolated skill and considers how communication, motor development, sensory processing, feeding, executive functioning, regulation, and the family environment all work together.

What sets Method apart is the way we deliver care. We intentionally created a model that feels more collaborative, personal, and responsive than a traditional therapy experience. Our clinicians work across disciplines, communicate closely with families, and build treatment plans around the child’s real life rather than expecting the child to fit into a predetermined model of care. We also place a strong emphasis on parent education and carryover, because some of the most meaningful progress happens outside of the therapy session.

We are known for thoughtful, relationship-based care and for working with children and families across a wide range of needs, including speech and language development, feeding, sensory regulation, executive functioning, social communication, motor development, reflex integration, and wellness-based services.

From a brand perspective, I am most proud that Method feels intentional in every detail. From the clinical experience to our environment, communication, and team culture, we have worked to create something that feels elevated without ever losing warmth. Families should feel heard, understood, and genuinely cared for from the moment they walk through the door.

Ultimately, Method was built to fill a space I felt was missing in our community: exceptional pediatric therapy that brings disciplines together, values the family as part of the care team, and provides highly personalized support with both clinical excellence and humanity at the center.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happiest is feeling connected to the people and work that matter most to me. I love creating, building, and seeing an idea turn into something that genuinely impacts another person’s life.

Professionally, that looks like watching a child gain confidence, seeing a family feel more supported, or knowing that our team helped make something feel easier or more possible for them. Personally, it is the quieter things: meaningful relationships, time with the people I love, travel, good conversation, and being present enough to actually enjoy the life I am building.

I think happiness, for me, comes from a combination of purpose and connection. I feel most fulfilled when I am growing, contributing, and surrounded by people who make life feel meaningful.
