Meet Zach Daniels of Hammer and Nails DTC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zach Daniels.

Hi Zach, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey to becoming the owner of Hammer & Nails Denver Tech Center has been shaped by entrepreneurship, family, and a desire to create something meaningful within my community.

I grew up in the South and graduated from the University of Alabama in 2012. Over the years, my career taught me the importance of building strong relationships, providing exceptional service, and creating experiences that people genuinely value. I also had the opportunity to spend six months as a stay-at-home dad, which gave me a new perspective on how difficult it can be, especially for men, to intentionally make time for themselves.

That experience helped shape my vision for Hammer & Nails. I wanted to create more than another place to get a haircut or grooming service. I wanted to build a premium space where men could step away from their day-to-day responsibilities, disconnect for a while, and leave feeling more confident and refreshed.

Opening Hammer & Nails in the Denver Tech Center has allowed me to bring that vision to life while becoming part of the Belleview Station community. The process of building the shop from the ground up has required patience, persistence, and a great team of people who believe in what we are creating. I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come and excited to provide an experience that raises the standard for men’s grooming in Denver.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Opening a business from the ground up comes with plenty of challenges, particularly when you’re managing construction timelines, permitting, hiring, training, marketing, and the financial pressures that come with delays, all at the same time.

One of the biggest challenges has been learning to remain patient when so much of the process is outside of my direct control. Construction schedules shift, unexpected expenses arise, and opening dates sometimes need to change. At the same time, I’ve had to build awareness and educate the community about a men’s grooming concept that many people have never experienced before.

Balancing the business with family life has also required a great deal of discipline and support, especially while my wife and I are raising a young family. There have certainly been stressful moments, but each challenge has made me more resourceful and even more committed to the vision.

I’ve learned that entrepreneurship is rarely about everything going according to plan. It’s about adapting quickly, continuing to move forward, and never losing sight of why you started.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Hammer & Nails is a premium grooming shop created specifically for men. We offer haircuts, beard grooming, straight-razor shaves, hand and foot care, and other grooming services in an environment designed to help men relax and disconnect from their day-to-day responsibilities.

What sets us apart is the complete experience. From the moment a guest walks through the door, our goal is to make him feel comfortable and cared for. He can enjoy a complimentary beverage, watch a game, or put on noise-canceling headphones and choose what he wants to watch on his own television while receiving a hand or foot service. Every detail of the shop has been designed to make personal care feel approachable, comfortable, and genuinely enjoyable for men.

We also offer flexible, month-to-month memberships that include services each month. There are no long-term contracts, and unused services roll over, allowing members to use them when they need them. Our memberships are designed to make consistent grooming convenient while giving each member the freedom to customize his experience based on his needs.

What I’m most proud of is that Hammer & Nails is helping redefine what self-care looks like for men. Men carry tremendous responsibilities in their careers, families, and communities, but they do not always give themselves permission to slow down and recharge. We are creating a place where they can do that without feeling uncomfortable or out of place.

We are not simply another barbershop or salon. We bring hair, beard, hand, and foot care together under one roof and deliver each service at a premium level. More than anything, we want people to know that Hammer & Nails is a place where men can invest in themselves, build confidence, and take an hour away from everything else while we take care of them.

How do you think about happiness?
My family is what makes me happiest. Being a husband and father gives everything else I do a greater sense of purpose. My wife and I are also expecting our second baby girl in just a few short weeks, which makes this season of life especially exciting. Some of my favorite moments are the simple ones: spending time together, watching our daughter grow, and stepping away from work long enough to be fully present with the people I love.

I’m also happiest when I’m building something meaningful and seeing it positively affect others. Whether that means creating opportunities for my team, supporting other local businesses, becoming involved in the community, or giving someone a place to feel welcomed and cared for, those moments remind me why I chose this path.

And if I can find a little time to get out on the golf course or watch some college football, that makes me pretty happy too.
