Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Paradis.
Hi Matthew , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The band originally formed in 2019. Our sound is really built through the process of studio experimentation combined with live execution. So finding stuff in the studio that we think sounds exciting and then finding a way to perform it live. This has really separated the group from past projects where we would write songs in a live setting. Writing in the studio allows for so much more experimentation and creativity. The possibilities are really endless which has been super exciting. And then we find a way to distill these ideas to something that is effective in a live setting.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
While there have certainly been challenges the band has faced, the vision of the project has kept our course clear. The goal has always been to write and release music that we find exciting and unique. So while there have been some struggles it has all been worth it to be able to do what we love.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We create high energy rock music that is simultaneously relaxing. We are known for a surreal sound with driving beats accompanied by soulful dreamlike vocals. The sound of our band is totally unique while still fitting into the mainstream genre of alternative rock.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I’m just happy to be alive and to get to experience the great mystery and wonder that is life. Creating music is impactful for me because it is a way of connecting to what I experience in every day life. And I have just always found so much awe in sound and the wide range of tones and textures that can be created through instruments. But beauty in all forms makes me happy. Nature. Plants. Aesthetic. The love that exists within us and that we get to share with each other.
