Inspiring Conversations with Tre Goodwin of Telepsych 4 You

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tre Goodwin.

Hi Tre, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my career as a nurse, working in different settings that exposed me to people from all walks of life. Over time, I found myself drawn to mental health because I saw how much someone’s circumstances, environment, and access to care could affect their life.

Becoming a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner felt like the natural next step. Eventually, I became involved in interventional psychiatry and developed a Spravato treatment program at Telepsych 4 You. That experience changed the way I saw my career. I realized I didn’t just enjoy treating patients I enjoyed building things, solving problems, and figuring out how to make care more accessible.

One area that has become especially important to me is creating more inclusive spaces in mental healthcare, particularly for men. Men are often taught to minimize their emotions, push through challenges on their own, or view asking for help as a sign of weakness. I want to help change that narrative. Mental health care should feel safe, approachable, and free of judgment for everyone, regardless of gender, background, or life circumstances.

Today, I get to combine the things I care about most: patient care, leadership, innovation, and improving how mental healthcare is delivered. At the heart of all of it is my goal to create a space where people feel seen, heard, respected, and comfortable being honest about what they’re going through

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all, and I think that has been an important part of my growth. Healthcare can be frustrating because sometimes you know exactly what a patient needs, but there are insurance requirements, prior authorizations, medication access issues, and other barriers standing between the patient and treatment.
Those experiences have shaped how I think. I’ve never been great at accepting, “That’s just how it’s done.” If something isn’t working, I want to understand why and figure out how we can make it better. Some of the biggest challenges in my career have ultimately pushed me to become a better provider and leader.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Telepsych 4 You?
At Telepsych 4 You, our goal is to make quality psychiatric care more accessible. A major part of my work has been developing our Spravato program for individuals struggling with treatment-resistant depression.

We are also committed to supporting individuals who are struggling with substance use and are looking for a safe, supportive, and judgment-free place to seek help. Substance use and mental health are often deeply connected, and I believe people deserve to be met with compassion rather than stigma. Our goal is to create an environment where people feel comfortable being honest about what they are experiencing and know that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

What I’m most proud of is that we have built more than a treatment service. We try to look at the entire patient experience and remove as many barriers as possible along the way. I want people to feel like they are being treated as a person, not just a diagnosis or another appointment on the schedule.

I also believe that mental health is something that evolves throughout our lives. Our mental health needs can change as we grow from childhood and adolescence to adulthood, relationships, parenthood, career changes, loss, major life transitions, substance-use challenges, and the unexpected difficulties that life can bring. There isn’t a single point where mental health begins or ends, and there shouldn’t be a one size-fits-all approach to care.

Our goal is to be there for people through those different chapters of life to provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive space where they can reach out when things feel difficult, even before they reach a crisis point. Whether someone is navigating a new challenge, managing a longstanding condition, struggling with substance use, or simply trying to better understand themselves, I want them to know they don’t have to go through it alone.

As we continue to grow, I want our work to be known for compassion, innovation, accessibility, and doing things the right way. Most importantly, I want Telepsych 4 You to be a place where people feel seen, heard, respected, and supported through every stage and transition life brings.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is knowing that what I’m doing has a real impact on people’s lives.
I have always believed in meeting people where they are. Everyone comes into treatment with a different story, different struggles, and different ideas of what getting better means. I want people to feel heard, respected, and hopeful about what comes next.
That same mindset drives me professionally. I want to keep growing, keep building, and keep challenging the way things have traditionally been done. At the end of the day, success for me isn’t just about a title or how big something becomes. It’s being able to look back and know that I built something meaningful and that people are better because it existed.
