Daily Inspiration: Meet Clarine Warren

Today we’d like to introduce you to Clarine Warren.

Hi Clarine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve loved fashion, and the ritual of getting dressed, for as long as I can remember. My parents tell stories about me standing in my closet at three years old, announcing that I had nothing to wear! I’ve always been drawn to trends, to what feels like me, and to how I can express myself through clothing.

I wasn’t the most confident kid. I was teased and bullied, and at times I felt completely out of control. But putting on something that made me feel like myself, something I had control over, helped me cope.

By college, I knew I wanted to work in fashion one way or another, so I started at Michael Kors after graduation. I had accepted a job in New York City and thought I would stay there and grow in the industry. Then, a few weeks before the move, I met my husband, and my dream turned into something different: marrying the love of my life and following his naval career.

Twelve years and three kids later, here I am, starting my new styling business, where I get to show my clients, family, and friends what it looks like to dress to feel completely like yourself.

Motherhood shaped that mission as much as my childhood did. Becoming a mom drastically changes your reality and your sense of who you used to be. Dressing my body felt entirely different, and it took a lot of therapy and hard work to see and appreciate this new version of it.

I want my clients to look in their closets and feel completely seen. Life is hard enough. Getting dressed should be expressive and fun, and my job is to make sure it is.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
my biggest obstacle was making sure I was completely confident in myself before helping others grow. I want my clients to know that it wasn’t an easy road to get here. After three kids, three C-sections, and weight gain and loss, I had to work through mental challenges before I could accept the body I’m in. If I weren’t confident in myself, and if I didn’t love the body I have now, I truly believe I couldn’t help my clients the way I do.

I want to walk in ready to show them how worthwhile it is to work through the pieces in their closet that no longer suit them or their life, and how freeing that can feel. I also want to show them how choosing clothes that feel completely like them, and following their own personalized formula for getting dressed, can make life so much easier and more carefree.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in personal styling, and I offer a few different services. The first is an in-depth conversation to help you navigate your style. The second is creating the closet of your dreams by identifying the items that no longer serve you and the gaps that, once filled, would make your wardrobe more cohesive. The third is building positive shopping habits: figuring out what you really need before you head out to shop, and whether a piece will fit into your current wardrobe.

What I’m most proud of, and what sets me apart, is my passion for making sure everything I do guides my clients toward feeling like themselves whenever they look in their closet. If you aren’t into trends, great! Let’s figure out which pieces feel like you and go from there. If you are into trends, we’ll work out how to choose the ones that suit you, feel timeless, and are cost-effective, so you’re not spending money on items that just sit in your closet.

I want my clients to see how beautiful the confidence is that comes from dressing from the heart, not the way other people tell them they should.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I’m extremely new to networking. For now, word of mouth and the positive reviews from my clients have been my best networking tools. In the future, I hope to grow my social media presence so I can help more people, on a broader level, feel like themselves when they get dressed. I’m your pretty standard mom of three with very little time to herself, so I know that’s relatable. In the meantime, identifying who my ideal customer is has helped me find businesses to connect with that can recommend me to their clients.
