Rising Stars: Meet Jordan Leigh of Denver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Leigh.

Hi Jordan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Jordan Leigh, and I’m the owner and artist behind Simpleigh Sunkissed. I was born and raised in San Diego, California, and moved to Denver nearly five years ago. As much as I love Southern California and will always be a SoCal girl at heart, I was ready for a new city, a fresh start, and a change of scenery, so I decided to call Denver home.

My journey into the beauty industry is actually pretty personal. I struggled with cystic acne for much of my life, and after spending much of my upbringing and adult career in the radio and media industry, I was very aware of my appearance and struggled with my confidence and feeling comfortable in my own skin. There were years when I felt like I needed to hide behind makeup because my skin was so bad. In a funny way, that insecurity is what first pulled me toward makeup.

My friends started asking me to do their makeup because they loved how I did my own, and I quickly realized how much I genuinely enjoyed it. I surprised myself with how much I loved working with different faces and features, and even more so, how rewarding it was to help someone look in the mirror and feel a little more confident, sexy, and like themselves. That feeling stuck with me.

I eventually decided to go to school, become licensed, and pursue beauty professionally as an esthetician. While I love skincare and everything that comes with it, my main focuses today are makeup and spray tanning. I always joke that I can’t tan naturally to save my life, so spray tanning felt like a pretty natural fit. With those services at the forefront, I also offer lash lift and brow lamination services as well! I’d say makeup and spray tanning are amongst my most popular however, especially in the bridal industry.

My background in media and marketing also gave me a strong foundation and taught me a lot about connecting with people and building a brand. So when I decided to make the leap into beauty, I knew I wanted to create something of my own. I’ve always been the kind of person who, once I set my mind to something, will figure out how to make it happen. I took that mindset and created Simpleigh Sunkissed, a fully mobile beauty business centered around making beauty feel effortless and convenient.

The name is a little nod to me, too. “Simpleigh” is a play on my name, Jordan Leigh, and “Sunkissed” represents the bronzy, radiant feeling I want my clients to leave with.

My goal is to create soft, radiant glam that still feels like you rather than covering you up. I always say less is more and it’s the little things that go a long way. I want my clients to leave feeling confident, comfortable, and glowing in a way that makes them feel like they just naturally woke up that way.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not! I think any time you build something of your own, there are going to be plenty of moments where you question yourself. Moving from San Diego to Denver and starting over in a new city was a big transition in itself, and then building a business from the ground up meant learning so much along the way.

One of the biggest challenges was realizing that being good at what you do is only one part of running a business. I had a marketing background from my years in radio media, which gave me a great foundation, but there was still so much to learn about entrepreneurship, pricing, finances, branding, client experience, and simply putting myself out there and asking people to believe in something I was building.

There have also been plenty of moments of self-doubt. I think that comes with putting something so personal into the world, especially when you’re building it on your own. I’ve had to learn to trust myself, be patient with the process, and remind myself that growth doesn’t always happen as quickly as we’d like.

Starting Simpleigh Sunkissed has definitely stretched me in ways, but that’s also what I’m most grateful for. Every challenge has forced me to become more confident, more adaptable, and more intentional about the business and the experience I want to create. It hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road, but I don’t think I’d want it to be. I think the hard parts are what make building something of your own so rewarding.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Today, I’m a licensed esthetician and the owner of Simpleigh Sunkissed, a fully mobile beauty business specializing in makeup artistry and custom spray tanning, with a strong focus on bridal beauty. I also offer lash and brow services, but makeup and spray tanning are really the heart of my business and where I see myself continuing to grow.

With makeup, my specialty is soft, radiant glam that enhances rather than covers. I love creating a look that makes someone feel elevated and polished while still looking like themselves. I’m not interested in making every client look the same. Everyone has different features, different comfort levels, and a different vision of what makes them feel beautiful, so I love creating a look that feels completely personal to them.

Spray tanning is another huge part of what I do. I love that a customized glow can completely change how someone feels, whether they’re getting ready for a wedding, vacation, special event, or simply want to feel a little more confident day to day. There’s something about having that extra bit of color and glow that makes you feel instantly more put together.

Bridal beauty has become especially meaningful to me because of how much trust goes into it. Being someone’s makeup artist on one of the biggest days of their life is something I never take lightly. I love being part of the morning, creating a calm and comfortable environment, and helping a bride feel beautiful without feeling unlike herself. I also love being able to bring that experience directly to the client through my mobile model, whether I’m traveling to their home, hotel, venue, or destination.

What I’m most proud of is that I’ve built something that genuinely reflects who I am. Simpleigh Sunkissed isn’t just about makeup or spray tans. It’s about the feeling someone gets when they look in the mirror and feel confident, comfortable, and excited about themselves. My own experience with acne and struggling with my confidence is a huge part of why that matters so much to me.

I think what sets me apart is the combination of personalization, convenience, and the experience I create. I come to you, I take the time to understand what you actually want, and I want you to leave feeling like the most elevated version of yourself. Whether it’s a soft glam makeup look or a custom sunkissed glow, my goal is always to enhance what’s already there and leave my clients feeling radiant, confident, and completely themselves.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest piece of advice is to stop waiting until you feel completely ready. I think so many people have something they want to pursue, but fear, financial pressure, or the possibility of failing keeps them from ever going after it. Taking that leap can be incredibly challenging, but there’s also something incredibly fulfilling about knowing you had the courage to try.

I actually left behind my corporate career and went back to school at 30 years old to pursue something completely different. I think that’s an important part of my story because there can be so much pressure to have your career and your life figured out by a certain age. I certainly didn’t. I had to be willing to start over, and that was scary.

While I was in school and building Simpleigh Sunkissed, I went back to nannying so I could still pay my bills and have a roof over my head while growing my clientele on the side. I would work on my business after hours during the week and into the weekends. Honestly, I can’t tell you the last time I remember having a true “day off.”

Entrepreneurship is a full-time commitment, even when you’re technically working another job to make it possible. There were plenty of moments where I questioned whether I was doing the right thing, but I kept reminding myself that nothing worthwhile comes easily.

I’ve always believed that if something means enough to you, you will find a way to figure it out. It may not be the easiest way, and it may take longer than you imagined, but you’ll find a path forward. Otherwise, it’s very easy to find an excuse not to do it. That mindset has carried me through a lot of the uncomfortable parts of building this business.

I officially launched Simpleigh Sunkissed on February 22, 2025, and when I look at how far the business has come in such a short amount of time, I’m honestly blown away. I’m incredibly proud of the success I’ve been able to build from the ground up, especially knowing where I started and everything it took to get here. It’s a reminder that you don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin.

Now, I can genuinely say that I love what I do. I love my “pink-collar” job, and I’m incredibly proud to call this business completely mine. There is something really special about creating a career that feels fulfilling instead of simply working for a paycheck.

So if you’re thinking about taking a chance on yourself, my advice is to go for it. You don’t have to quit your job tomorrow or have every detail figured out. Sometimes you have to build your dream in the margins of your life until it can become your full-time reality. And don’t convince yourself that you’re too old to start over. I was 30 when I did it.

It will be hard, and it will require sacrifice, but if something means enough to you, you’ll find a way to figure it out. And I think the reward of looking back and knowing you actually went for it is worth every difficult step along the way.
