Conversations with Paul Rodriguez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Rodriguez.

Hi Paul , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started the business in 2020 during Covid. I use to be a taste maker for new era hat company. After doing that for a while I asked new era if I was able to put one of my own logos on there hats. They told me no so decided to tattoo my face, put a couple grand in my mouth with diamonds and buy an embroidery machine and the rest is history. Today I make some of the best custom hats and designs Colorado has ever seen from glow in the dark hats to crochet hats. I do this full time now and I love it.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Finding funding and Loans for my biz has been a struggle . Also this was a hobby and now it’s a full blown profitable business. Making that transition was difficult but I had a good support system and help to get me where I’m at today .

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in custom hats. I’m known for making a hat called “WORTH A FORTUNE” and my crochet style hats . I’m most proud of the “WORTH A FORTUNE” . It’s a side hat that come in a Chinese take out box with a cootie catcher on the front and looks like a fotone cookie with the packaging . My pride and joy . What sets me apart from others is the quality I make these hats with and the creativity I use doing . I make each a hat as if I was making for myself . I’m a hat snob so all my work is amazing .

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I talk to everyone all the time . Don’t wait for it to come to you . You gotta go out there and get it . Close mouths don’t get Fed . The more people you state better . You never know who’s listening or interested into what your are into as well .
