Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Haley Jacobs of Steamboat Springs

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Haley Jacobs. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Haley, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
One of the biggest misconceptions about our business is that we’re a large corporation. In reality, Spurrin’ Scrubs is still a small, women-owned company where our owner is hands-on in every step of the process. She not only oversees all the designs and creative direction but also manages our marketing content and continues to work as a medical laboratory scientist herself. Every piece we create is a reflection of that personal involvement and dedication.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
At Spurrin’ Scrubs, we believe working professionals deserve more than just ordinary uniforms. Inspired by the resilience, boldness, and individuality of the American West- our scrubs combine practicality with a touch of Western flair. Whether you’re wrangling patients or riding through a 12-hour shift, our scrubs are designed to move with you, keep you comfortable, and help you stand out in the busiest of environments.

Our collections feature high-quality, durable fabrics, stylish; yet ergonomic and professional cuts, and thoughtful design elements like subtle embroidered patterns and durable stitching that’s not just for show. Our unique items are designed and made uniquely by our owner, Haley- a licensed medical laboratory scientist with a background in the agricultural industry and passion for Western inspired fashion.

Made for those with similar style preferences and active lifestyles who find themselves wearing their scrubs in a multitude of settings, Spurrin’ Scrubs mission is to keep our customers feeling confident and capable for all that their days may bring.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that clings to playing small out of comfort has served its purpose and now must be released. It helped me stay cautious and thoughtful in the early stages- however, growth requires courage. To move forward, I need to release hesitation and step fully into opportunities with confidence, trusting the skills and foundation I’ve built.

When did you last change your mind about something important?
I last changed my mind about something important when navigating a recent shift in my business strategy. Changes in business are inevitable every day, and I’ve learned the importance of taking them in stride. Instead of viewing change as a setback, I now see it as an opportunity for creative re-direction—an opening to adapt, innovate, and ultimately strengthen the path forward.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
A cultural value I aim to protect is the spirit of the American West—hard work, resilience, and integrity. Those values shaped the foundation of my business and guide how I show up every day. The West teaches us grit in the face of challenges, respect for community, and pride in building something with our own two hands. Protecting that heritage isn’t just about honoring the past, but about carrying those values forward into modern business with authenticity.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
With a limited window of time, I’d choose to step away from the “conventional path” altogether. Instead of traditional jobs or routines, I would lean into the freedom of working “odd jobs” across the world—immersing myself in new communities, learning their rhythms, and drawing inspiration from their cultures.

That constant exploration would fuel creativity, broaden perspective, and spark ideas I could bring back into my own ventures, allowing me to build with deeper purpose while living fully.
