Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Wagner.
Hi Nicole, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been a photographer for over 7 years now, and went full time in March of 2022! It’s been a blast so far! I started back when I was 14 and a freshman in high school, but I didn’t find my niche until I was a senior. I discovered my love for couples by photographing a few friends in the summer before my senior year. I have been working with couples ever since and love it! I still can’t believe I get to do this for a living.
Now, I am a full-time wedding photographer and living the dream!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a reasonably smooth road?
There have been some challenges, but I wouldn’t be where I am today if I hadn’t overcome them. One huge struggle has been my age, being 21 years old. When starting my business as a teenager, it was hard to figure out where I was headed and what exactly I wanted to do with my business. Once I figured it out, it was challenging booking clients at first, so I honestly didn’t tell people my age much. It wasn’t until I turned 20 that I told couples my age if they asked.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a traveling and destination couples and wedding photographer here in Colorado. I am proud of how far I have come. What sets me apart from others is that I care so much about my couples’ stories, and I want them to have the absolute best day of their lives. I’m all about capturing my couples precisely for who they are. I am not about giving some posed, fake, unrealistic version of their love story.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those just starting?
I think my most extensive advice is to have people in your corner when times get tough, not give up, and take what others say with a grain of salt. It is excellent to listen to those around you and hear what they say, but at the end of the day, the most important thing is what you want, and do that! I know saying don’t give up is cliche and cheesy, but it’s true. There have been several times when I’ve wanted to give up, or thought I couldn’t do it, but having the amazing people in my corner who support me makes all the difference. They believe in me when I don’t think I can!
