Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Grass.
Hi Megan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my photography business in 2014 and have reinvented it multiple times, photography has always been a passion of mine and though it has now become a part-time path for me I still have a passion for it and try to incorporate it into all the business ventures that I enter.
My current business venture is a Digital Media Management & Marketing company and I am able to use my photography skills to enhance my client’s online presence through photo marketing as an added touch to their campaigns. It allows me to keep doing something that I am passionate about as well as increase awareness for my client’s products and services.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to success is not usually a smooth one. In my case, it has been full of bumps and wrong turns. That said, I am grateful for every obstacle that I have had to overcome because each of them taught me a lesson that I needed to learn at that current time.
Struggle to me is an essential part of the journey toward success. Without struggle how would we truly know and understand success, what would we strive for?
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My current business venture is Ostentus Digital Media Management & Marketing. Ostentus is an odd name and I often get the question of why or how I came up with it and the answer is simple; Ostentus is the Latin phrase “Exhibited” meaning to “Display” and that is exactly what I do. I display and create content for my clients for their products or service across social media platforms. I help businesses enhance their brand presence and achieve their goals on all digital media platforms and help with a creative approach to marketing. I am most proud of the fact that this is a new venture for me and one that I have dabbled with but never took the full leap into and now that I have and have found success in it I realize that waiting to take that leap was a lesson and I am very proud to say that the business, though it is small is thriving!
As I mentioned before my photography has shifted to part-time but is still a passion and I still make time to cultivate clients and provide the best service as possible. I also mentioned that I have reinvented that business multiple times, typically when I found a particular subject matter that I enjoyed photographing. About six months ago, I did a series of Boudoir Sessions and absolutely loved it! Making women feel the best they possibly can in their own skin is incredibly rewarding! I am most proud of this particular shift in my photography because it makes a difference in someone’s life. Every client I have tells me how confident they felt, how comfortable the session was, and how much fun they had. That is the proudest achievement I could ever ask for.
What do you think about luck?
I think that luck is sometimes mistaken for opportunity. I am always looking for opportunities in both life and business.
Every now and then a stroke of pure luck does come along however, I think it is important to remember that the harder you work and the more opportunities you take advantage of the more you will see your luck change.
