Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Denver.
Hi Tracy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Designing events is something that started small for me about 10 years ago and grew into a professional career. I would do events for family or friends and had so many folks ask, ‘Why don’t you do this for a living?’ I eventually thought to myself, ‘Yeah, why don’t I?!’ That simple question from a guest led to the formation of my company, Elevate Event Concierge. COVID really highlighted how much I missed the creative side of putting together events as well as the intentional side of my job which is bringing people together. As humans, we aren’t meant to be isolated. We need connection. What my company strives to do is create events with a ‘feel’. Events that when you leave, you can’t exactly pinpoint what it is, but you feel energized, connected, and inspired! I firmly believe that small details make a difference and infusing the client’s personality, whether it be a small event or large corporate event, is critical to designing an event that becomes an experience.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As with many businesses, COVID essentially shut down my business. There was no opportunity to gather folks together in any capacity! And unlike so many, it wasn’t easy to pivot to a virtual experience within my business. There were many days where I had to sit down and imagine other parts of my business that hadn’t needed to come to light before. This is when I came up with my concept of Elevate Boxed Parties TM. So many of my clients aren’t looking for a full-scale event planner, but they would like an event that seems pulled together. I have both custom and pre-curated boxed party options where I do the work of pulling an event together from a decor standpoint, the client purchases the boxed party and basically, a party arrives at their door with everything they need to pull off the event! I like to describe it as an ‘event designer in a box’ as I do the work to pull together various decor and themed elements as well as provide style sheets to help the client put together their own event. It works for even the self-described ‘non-creative’ types! As Plato said, necessity is the mother of invention!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Elevate acknowledges that no two events are the same, therefore the range of event services should be varied and should provide the client with choices as to the curation of their event. Our company has been designing events for over ten years and has garnered the experience necessary to assist in whatever way the client needs. What we strive to do is to Elevate who the client already is and breathe life and creativity into the essence of their events. Elevate is essentially an à la carte approach to event planning. We are here for what the client needs in the way they uniquely need it!
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
When I was young, we moved to Eastern KY in the winter and it was a tough time for our family. My dad could see that making friends was challenging (as it is for any new kid at school) and he built a wooden sled for me that you could essentially slide into with a bench seat so that I could invite some ‘new friends’ over to play. He tied the sled to the back of his pickup truck and pulled us around our yard. I remember feeling elated and proud as the winter wind whipped through our hair and my new friends all laughed and yelled, ‘This is so cool!’ I made friends that day and my dad continued to be as awesome as he always was.
