Hidden Gems: Meet Laurie Moroco of Laurie J. Moroco Business Coaching & Cosulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Laurie J. Moroco. She shares story with us below:
Dr. Laurie Moroco has consistently advocated for competent and effective communication, which she believes equips people with tools for successful personal and professional relationships. She obtained a BA in communication and public relations, an MA in Corporate Communication, and a Ph.D. in Interpersonal Communication and Ethics from Duquesne University.

Being a lifelong learner, she dove into higher education and became a full-time tenured faculty member and chair of the Communication department at a college in western Pennsylvania. She was instrumental in building a 5-million-dollar media center on campus. She is now an Assistant Dean of Instruction at a college in Colorado, a professor, a certified master business strategist, a corporate leadership trainer, and a working mom of four children.

Always believing in combining theory with action, Dr. Moroco has entrepreneurial roots and started her own business called Haute Choklet. She was a solopreneur who achieved success when her chocolate-covered handmade treats appeared at the Rachel Ray Show and the Republican National Convention. Her businesses have been featured on MSN and Working Mother.

She decided to combine her experience of being an entrepreneur and 25 years of teaching in higher ed and show others how they can achieve their own business goals. Her business coaching practice has grown significantly since she started it in 2019. Although she tends to empower women in business, she has successfully helped many people through interactive workshops and business coaching. She wanted it all (a family, to be an educator, a published author, and a female business owner), and through hard work, perseverance and desire, she got it all. Laurie is passionate about mentoring other entrepreneurs and encouraging them to ELEVATE their success to the next level.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest challenge as a Soulpreneur has to wear all the hats required to run a business. Constantly learning about my industry, networking, newsletters, and generating sales can be overwhelming for one person. Finding the time to dedicate to all of the “behind the scene” activity is frustrating. Another challenge I face when discussing my expertise in diversity, equity, and inclusion is that I am a white woman, which automatically affords me a privilege that may not give me the credibility that some people would like to see.

As you know, we’re big fans of Laurie J. Moroco Business Coaching & Consulting. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
My executive coaching techniques are designed to empower and outfit you with the tools you need to succeed in growing your business. I also provide interactive learning journeys and professional development opportunities for business leaders and entrepreneurs.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you like? What do you dislike?
Likes: laughing until my stomach hurts, clean sheets dried on a clothesline, fabric softener, oat milk latte on my deck, taking a bubble bath in the afternoon, listening to my favorite playlist, helping people make a dream become a reality, travel

Dislikes: incompetency, gray skies, anxiety, red wine in the wrong sized glass, dirty dishes in the sink, scallops
