Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristi Edwards.
Kristi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I spent 20+ years in Corporate America mostly working for Fortune 200 companies, I was searching for something more meaningful. I’m a single mom with triplets, we were always running around. I had so much mom guilt wanting to provide a healthy diet to my trio but mostly feeding them chicken nuggets, hot dogs and fast food. When I learned about Clean Eatz, I was so taken with the concept of convenient affordable healthy meal options. I knew it was something I wanted to bring to my community.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
COVID was a huge obstacle. We were about to sign a lease when COVID hit. Fortunately, we hadn’t signed it yet and were able to hit the pause button until things stabilized a little. However, opening a business in the midst of COVID has been quite challenging across the board with rising costs and supply shortages.
I love owning my own business but it has been a lot harder than I ever imagined. We are coming up on one year now so things have settled in a bit but there is still a lot to do.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Clean Eatz Denver DTC?
Clean Eatz is a healthy cafe that provides meal prep, catering, grab-n-go’s and cafe options such as wraps, bowls, smoothies, etc. The meal plan changes every week with six new meals coming out. In general, our meals are macronutrient based and are balanced. We do offer extra protein and low Carb versions of our meals. Our mission is to make healthy food options convenient and affordable. I love the Clean Eatz concept and making a change in people’s lives. When a customer comes in and tells me that Clean Eatz has changed their life, there is nothing better.
How do you define success?
In my opinion, success is multi-faceted and includes all aspects of life. It is important to me to have a successful business, but being a good mom and making time for my family is also part of my success. Life tends to get lopsided when it’s consumed by one aspect. Success also includes making time and taking care of yourself.
