Check Out Natasha Mistry’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Mistry.

Hi Natasha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
After graduating from art school in 2003, I moved to London and worked in the theater and entertainment industry. This was intense, fun and challenging and exposed me to world-class art and artists.

In 2008, I relocated to South Korea. I wanted new experiences, to prioritize my art, and to see more of the world. I led a simple life by the sea, creating paintings and drawings, making pottery, exhibiting my work in galleries and teaching children art. I traveled to China, Japan, India and the Peruvian Amazon, as well as exploring the many temples and shamanic sites in South Korea.

In 2016, I met my husband, and we moved to Andalusia, Spain, and then to Boulder, Colorado, where we have been ever since. I work as a professional artist here and find unique inspiration living close to nature and road-tripping across the States.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Life as an artist is not linear – so in that way, there are always struggles. For me, moving countries several times has been the biggest struggle as it takes time to get to know a place, the culture, the people, and how to do basic things like finding the right painting supplies, find the galleries, etc. Navigating where to direct your energy can take years in a new country.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an artist that specializes in meditative paintings and drawings. I create abstract oil paintings, ink drawings and watercolor paintings which activate the sacred space of the subconscious. My work comes from my inner experiences, not the outside world. Having spent most of my adult life living away from British culture and traveling extensively, I have developed a broad way of seeing the world.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Enjoying the process.
