Designing Bold, Lived-In Spaces: How April Stites Is Blending Artistry and Function in Modern Home Design

April Stites is redefining what it means to create a home by merging bold artistic vision with practical, livable design. From standout full-home remodels like the Deer Springs project to showcasing her work at major events like the Denver Home Show, April continues to expand her reach while staying rooted in creativity and connection. With plans to grow her team, launch virtual design services, and integrate her passion for art through an online gallery, she’s building a brand that not only transforms spaces—but elevates how people experience and live within them.

April, you recently wrapped up a full home remodel in Golden. What made that project stand out from others you’ve worked on?
The Deer Springs project really stood out to us and our General Contractor because of how unique the style was that the client had proposed. We implemented a ton of fun colors, patterns and even natural materials to pull together a one of a kind custom interior home. We provided our clients with design plans, concept boards and renderings for the kitchen, laundry, master bath, powder bath, both 3/4 bathrooms, entryway and basement. Doing a whole home remodel wasn’t initially the plan, but our clients loved how their kitchen turned out and just had to do the rest of the house!

Showcasing your work at the Denver Home Show is a big milestone. How did that experience impact your business and client connections?
The Denver Home Show is one of the best networking events we have every year in the Denver area. We have been doing these spring shows for 5 years now and really love getting to connect with not only other vendors, but future clients as well. The show always brings in some incredible leads, and while they don’t always turn into clients, we value the ones that do!

As you look to expand your company, what areas of growth are you most excited to focus on?
The most exciting part about expanding the company is the ability to bring on more projects, which in return gives us more room for creativity and spacial solutions! Our plan at ALD is to build a team that is authentic, honest and personal in reflection to our work. We value bringing a seamless process to each individual project so our strategy stays the same, but being able to build a broader community within our company gives me hope for the amount of knowledge and opportunity we gain.

Opening an art gallery on your website is a unique move. What inspired you to blend art with your current work?
I have always been an artist and truly feel inspired by many places I’ve experienced. Art is something I never want to give up, so I assume opening an art gallery would keep me motivated to continue my artist journey. I am planning to bring a realism style in organics. My favorite thing to draw or paint is flowers and landscapes… similar to Georgia O’ Keefe.

What can clients and visitors expect from your brand as you continue evolving and growing in the coming year?

I believe clients can expect to have access to our company more readily through virtual design in the coming years. We hope to do a project in Maine this summer and have done past projects in other states such as Montana and Wisconsin. We hope to not only grow our virtual design services, but also our vacation rental design services. We have done a few vacation rentals in the past and have improved the income of these rentals through our process. The future is bright!
