Today we’d like to introduce you to Noelle Romero.
Hi Noelle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My first photoshoot came to me by complete surprise! A local photographer had glanced at my fitness website and he wanted to do a sunrise bikini shoot! His phone call thrilled and terrified me. I had zero modeling experience and he was willing to coach me free of cost. At the time, we were in the middle of a pandemic and I also was in the middle of an ugly divorce. I had spent the last decade raising children and I was ready to find myself again.
On the day of the shoot, I woke up at 4:30 am to meet up with the hair and makeup crew. After hours of tedious prep, I remember stepping in front of the mirror shocked! I didn’t even recognize myself. They had literally transformed me into a model in a matter of hours! I wore a dark purple bikini and the rest of the crew were dressed in beanies and hoodies. The photographer look through his camera lense, grinned and said “it’s go time.” Turns out a new model is never ready for their first shoot. I simply took a deep breath, teeth chattering, jaw clenched…and I had the time of my life!
Only a few weeks after the shoot, the photographer called me and mentioned that the “tear sheets” were in my email. “What is that?” I asked. He laughed and teased, “Wow! You really are new to this?” Turns out, I got a four-page spread in a Vigour Fashion Magazine! I was a published model. After once glance at the glossy magazine pages, I was hooked. Three years later, I have made countless covers and I am about to direct my first runway show for a national fashion magazine. I lost touch with the photographer from my first shoot, but I give him full credit for launching my modeling career. If you are reading this Garrhett Martin, thank you!!!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
My biggest challenge has been my disability. I was in a roll over car accident over ten years ago and I was told that I would spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair. To make matters worse, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Disease which is a thyroid disorder that makes it very hard to build new muscle mass. Regardless, I refused to give up and dedicated my life to physical therapy. Call it passion. Call it perseverance. I call it heart. My heart told me that modeling would help me regain my confidence and make me happier than I have been my entire life. My heart was right! I used to fear that a photographer would take one look at me and send me home. I was so worried that my disability would become an inconvenience and I feared that I would never be enough. Turns out my muscle weakness is invisible on film and the only thing stopping me was my mindset.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I think what sets me apart from others, is that I am walking runway after being told that my mobility would confine me to a wheelchair. I took full responsibility for my healing- physically and mentally. When I realized that my mobility depended on my mindset, I knew that I needed to change how I was thinking. After attending Tony Robbin’s “Unleash The Power Within,” I looked into NLP. Tony tranforms lives with NLP which stands for Nuero Linguistic Programming. I learned that our unconscious mind has programmed us to keep us safe. Rewind. When I stood back stage to walk runway for the first time, the adrenaline in my body told me that I was unsafe. Irony was that I was safe, I was just terrified that my new legs would fail me on the runway. I ended up getting trained in NLP and I am now using Tony Robbin’s techniques to help models walk runway confident and fearless. I have stepped into my power and I want every client that comes in my path to become the best version of themselves. NLP is meant to transform lives in a very short amount of time. I take remote and in person clients in and out of the fashion industry. If you are thinking of quitting, look at Noelle. All odds were against me and I am STILL STANDING. I am proof that with the right tools and mindset, anything and I mean ANYTHING is possible.
What’s next?
NUE is a Fashion Magazine based out of New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Charleston and Denver. A few months ago, the producer Richard Kalisher asked me to be the “face of NUE Denver.” I will be directing my first runway show in October and I am using the magazine to publish Denver’s upcoming talent. I am shocked and amazed to discover that almost all of the models on my roster are singers, dancers and aspiring actors. I plan on using my NLP training to coach new talent to cut through the mental blocks and really go for it like I did. Motivational speaking before each show and one on one coaching for the “average joe” is my new focus. If you ask me, nobody is “average.” We are all rock stars deep down with passion that just needs a little fire. If you want to become your best self, whatever that means, please reach out and I will dedicate our sessions to creating a new mindset. If you want to change your mindset, your career or simply improve your mental health, reach out to Noelle today. www.getfitwithnoelle.com
