Hidden Gems: Meet Kaylee Leets of Cycology Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaylee Leets.

Hi Kaylee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved to Colorado from Kalamazoo, MI after graduating from Western Michigan University in 2016. I had family that lived here and my sister-in-law was in the process of opening Colorado Springs’s first indoor cycling studio. After quitting a job, I didn’t love, she invited me to instructor training to become a cycling instructor. To be clear, I had never even taken an indoor cycling class before, let alone teach one. But then I did, for five years. I became the only full-time employee at Cycology Studio, worked the front desk, purchased retail orders, helped create graphics for the retail, and then two years in, I was managing the studio alone. Five years in, I became part owner!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
HA, no. Of course, there are always speedbumps along the way- some bigger than others. Small business owners/managers wear a lot of hats- you don’t always know what your day will be like until you do. Some days I’m a content creator, and other days I’m googling why the toilet is making the noise it’s making. The small daily struggles and the large ones, like COVID, are only tolerable when you have an amazing team and community. Thankfully, we do!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Cycology Studio is the only locally owned indoor cycling in Colorado Springs. We’re celebrating our sixth birthday this month and just launched another pillar to our brand- CycStrength, a circuit HIT-style workout located in the den of Cycology Studio!

We take pride in our team and community. We believe that working out should be enjoyable both physically and mentally. The coaches and instructors create classes for all fitness levels and give modifications when needed. You’re able to leave feeling accomplished rather than defeated.

Our community is truly unlike any other. No one is a stranger when you walk into the lobby and check in for your first or 100th class. We create relationships in and outside the studio and partner with other locally owned businesses for events. The support of the downtown community has been the backbone of the studio- we are thankful!

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Hmm- tough q.

I think success is measured so differently every day by everyone. Some days I don’t feel successful even if I have accomplished a to-do list from hell, and other days I wake up and smell success (or coffee, but it’s all the same).

Getting through the pandemic, something entirely beyond our control, was a huge win. We were able to pivot and find ways to keep our doors open.

…Finding ways to continue doing what you love- maybe that’s what success is to me.
