Life and Work with Tami McVay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tami McVay.

Tami, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Joining the Marine Corps when I was 17, was the best gift I could have given myself. At such a young age, it instilled a drive and confidence in me that has allowed me to trust myself and go for more all throughout my adult life. While working in corporate as a software developer, I was always maximizing my life outside of work. From traveling the world with friends doing cool adventures, such as kayaking in Brazil or biking in Spain to taking on challenges like triathlons and adventure races, I wanted to experience all life has to offer. For me, it’s always been about lifestyle. The big picture way that I am living in. In 2014, I walked away from my successful 20-year career. I had felt like I was stifling the best parts of me… my people skills… by staying in a cubicle all day. Being fascinated with the online space, I became a sponge learning everything I could. It’s been an incredible journey. Today, I have the opportunity to impact amazing men and women around the world. Through online programs and my unique exclusive adventure retreats, I help them tap into their most powerful self so they can courageously create life on their terms. Being able to empower others to make their own impact on the world is a dream come true.

Has it been a smooth road?
Being exposed to the military, corporate, and online entrepreneurship, I’m able to see a big picture that most do not experience. Each one has been extremely challenging with its own set of obstacles. Starting a new endeavor, self-doubt crops up because it’s new and all of the unknowns that you have to learn. The Marine Corps taught me I am capable of so much more than I ever thought possible. It’s your mental game that slows you down. I’ve made it a practice to work on personal development daily. This has allowed me to create the mental toughness, positivity, and resilience needed to get through anything… whether that’s a physical challenge or the emotional rollercoaster of being an entrepreneur. When you are crystal clear on who you are at your core, you’ll develop a trust in yourself that will allow you to take more risks and have faith that you can figure things out to make your goals a reality.

Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I unleash leaders. Through my online programs and adventure retreats, I help people see how powerful they really are. When they believe in themselves at a level they haven’t experienced before and start taking the right actions, their world shifts in their favor. Getting them out of their day-to-day element to focus on what they want life and business to look like, all while having fun in an exotic location, is the fastest accelerator to transformation. I truly embrace leading by example. I am most proud of the fact that my inspiration and training has literally saved lives. To me, that is the ultimate success and a gift I never saw coming.

Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
This is a topic I love! In this technological age, we crave human connection. Women have a natural ability to care and nurture and that makes us desperately needed at this time. When a woman does the personal development work to get clear on who she is, owns her value, and can express it in a powerful, confident way, she can move mountains. People who have high emotional intelligence will stand out above the rest in this next phase of technology and automation. With the ability to learn anything on the internet through self-education and the chance to connect with anyone around the world, there are unlimited opportunities. You have to have the courage and confidence to go seek them out instead of waiting for life to take you along for the ride, The online space has unlocked a treasure chest of opportunities for everyone. I often meet women who started an online business to be home with their children or was out of necessity due to health issues. It allows the flexibility that we have not experienced in the past.
