Today we’d like to introduce you to David Seal.
Hi David, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Hi everyone! My name is David Seal a.k.a. Mr. Seal. I am a Denver-based DJ/Producer/Artist looking to put my stamp on to the global music scene, incorporating an eclectic blend of bass-heavy dance music with a street-sound aesthetic.
I am a self-proclaimed “nomad at heart.” And my mixing style is as diverse and well-rounded as my experiences as I’ve moved around the country. Whether the rough and tough soul of my beginnings in Detroit, the laid back, breezy character of the Carolinas, the hard knock bounce and hustle of Atlanta, or the open-minded, electric energy of the Denver bass scene, I like things that are as fun and relatable as they are brazen and in your face.
I have opened for the likes of T-Pain and Flo Rida, co-produced and engineered for Gucci Mane, emceed and deejayed for a nationally touring dance competition, and also DJ private events and weddings as my day job. My current aspiration is to produce and release drum n’ bass and other styles of bass music, starting here in Denver, which is starting to become the rising Mecca of the bass music scene in the US.
Ever since my early days of making “pause tapes,” I have been in love with taking the listener on a journey. So I find my greatest strength as a DJ is the ability to intuitively read and play to a room. I have long held on to the belief that a DJ’s main goal is to “give the people what they want.” Hopefully, that’ll resonate in all areas that I perform in.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Pursuing to be true to yourself while also making art for the sake of hoping to resonate with others can be quite challenging. With the technological advances and social changes in the world, the music industry has been greatly affected by the way we communicate.
I have had a lot of up-and-downs—the hardest being the forced closure of my commercial recording studio and the subsequent dissolution of my first music brand with it. It caused great financial hardship for me and my family for quite a long time. I thought, at the time, that my dream was over.
But, now, here I am! I’m getting a second chance at my dream and with some success. So, I’ve dubbed my new entity “Victory Music Group,” as a reflection of the blessing and the faith it has taken to get to this point.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My specialty, if I have to name one, as a DJ is my mashup selection. Whether preselected or remixed in the spot, I am definitely becoming known as the “mashup specialist.”
As a producer, my ear and choices set me apart. I want to make things that are aggressive but also hopeful. I am fighting to bring light in the darkness—Victory Music.
What’s next?
My plans right now are to network in the Denver area, specifically in bass music, and branch out from there. I am planning some releases and look forward to showcasing those in my DJ sets.
I am also developing a unique brand of rave-influenced private parties and wedding receptions. So hit me up!
