Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Anton-Schnell, MD.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always had a passion for health and wellness. My journey started in Boston working in metabolic research while earning my Master’s Degree from Tufts University. I started my medical school education at the Columbia University of New York in collaboration with Ben Gurion University of the Negev. When my mother became ill, I moved closer to home and completed my remaining medical school education in the US. I received my medical doctorate (MD) from the American University of Integrative Health (formerly the University of Sint Eustatius School of Medicine). I completed my internal medicine residency at the Columbia University School of Physicians and Surgeons program at Stamford Hospital.
I have worked as a primary care provider for over 20 years including 10 years at Boulder Community Health. During the Covid pandemic, I expanded my knowledge of food as medicine by obtaining a nutrition health coach certificate from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and a plant-based medicine certificate from E-Cornell.
I am presently helping my concierge clients/patients with longevity. It is an exciting time in medicine. New and emerging research studies are proving that nutrition, sleep, movement, and happiness lead to what I call the happy, healthy hundred! I share my medical knowledge in both primary care and longevity improving overall health, energy, and happiness.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I am a doctor and I thought medical school was difficult, but starting my own business has been one of the hardest things I had had to learn. I have a new appreciation for office administrators who have helped me along the way.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Ingredients For Life LLC?
I am a concierge or membership-based private practice. It means that I keep the number of clients/patients small so I can give each member the attention they deserve. I offer same-day and next-day extended appointments with no wait times. I spend a lot of the appointment time listening to patient concerns and the other part educating on how the body works and what makes it last longer and stronger.
I am one of the few physicians who understand both medicine and nutrition. I understand how stress impacts health and also guide clients into a more relaxed state of mind.
I am proud of the way I practice medicine. I believe in knowing not just the biology and disease processes of a person but also what is going on in their life, job, relationships, and future. My client patients know and feel that I truly care.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Boulder is the best city. It offers all of my favorite things; sunshine, hiking trails, miles of bike paths, amazing restaurants, arts, and east access to both the mountains and an airport for travel.
The downside is the cost of living is getting higher and the traffic is getting slower.
