Today we’d like to introduce you to Nina Schulze.
Hi Nina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My story begins when I was diagnosed with Esophageal spasms that were a side effect of stress. What began as a race to find a way to cure me ended up turning into learning about healing past trauma. After experimenting with several different types of holistic healing- from yoga and meditation to aromatherapy- Reiki ended up being the answer I was searching for.
Daily Reiki resulted in me being spasm-free for four years now. After learning about how badly stress can affect our bodies and how it’s so important to heal the root cause of those issues, I really wanted to share that knowledge with others. So, in 2021 I opened my business The Wholeness Hut. At that time I was a Reiki Master Teacher and a Huna Kane Practitioner. I just wanted to offer some relief to those looking for another way.
I participated in tons of events from the Denver Body Mind Spirit Expo, Denver ETH Zen Zone, and the Colorado Holistic Fair. I became certified in other modalities like Past Life Regression and Akashic Records and graduated with a degree in Integrative Health Professions. I worked as a reader at For Heaven’s Sake Metaphysical Shop. Then, the most amazing opportunity came to me in April of 2023. A chance to learn more about business, get some help from experienced entrepreneurs and be on television.
So I applied and was accepted out of thousands to be one of the 70 contestants on The Blox season 11- the greatest entrepreneurial game show- which should be airing Spring of 2024. That whole experience completely changed everything for me. Not just how I was running my business but how, if I really wanted my business to succeed, the changes that I would need to make in the future.
On one hand, it was like starting back at square one- which was frustrating. But on the other hand, every minute of my time spent on The Blox had been so enlightening that it made the absolute need for change worth it. At the same time, I was going through some personal revelations myself. I was learning more about my ancestry and piecing together why I was the way that I was.
The age-old question, right? I think I have been asking myself since I was a child. But through discovering my ancestry, I was finally able to answer some of those questions. And I really wanted to apply those answers to my business. I learned that I have many ancestors who were connected to and had been persecuted during the Salem Witch Trials. And that blew my mind! And as someone who has always leaned a bit “witchy”, I really wanted to let this part of myself shine.
I had, in the past, been ridiculed A LOT by other practitioners and was taught to believe that “witchcraft” and spirituality have no common grounds. But I realized that was just a bunch of fear that some people just like to spread. So I thought long and hard about it. Between new personal discoveries and my lessons from The Blox, I was ready to make a huge change. I changed the name of my business to Wickedly Whole- because The Wholeness Hut wasn’t really who I was anymore.
And, if I offered something a little bit more “witchy”, wholeness didn’t really fit on brand with that. Then, I decided that I wanted to take my work remote. For the most part, everything that I offered could be done online. And if it helped to work from home to save a little money, why not? I was incredibly excited and couldn’t wait for 2024. But then things took a fast turn.
On Christmas day, my dog Lily was killed. Then, on our new launch date, I found out that getting a license in my city would take so much longer than I had anticipated. I was stuck in this rut that I didn’t know how to get out of. I mean, you can’t really move forward when you’re told you can’t operate your business.
During this time I struggled. I was fighting to stay out of depression. I love what I do and to have that taken from you was a hard blow. At the same time, I was grieving the loss of my dog, whom I’ve had since she was a puppy. So in my boredom and grief, I was scrolling along on social media, when I got this idea. What if I created a product that helped my clients? I started thinking about different things that clients had said to me and different questions I have been asked over the years.
And then it came to me- what if I created a product that fulfilled a purpose easily, safely, and effectively? And I got to work creating Witch Bombs and Steamers- bath bombs and shower steamers with a purpose. By the end of that day, not only had I created my first product, but had a list of all the different types of bombs and steamers that I could create. I then reached out to some of my fellow Bloxers and asked if they would mind testing my product- I wanted to make sure that the goal of these Witch Bombs and Steamers was on point.
And they were. Finally, on February 20th, I heard back that my business was a go, which worked out perfectly because we launched our energy-cleansing Witch Bombs and Steamers on February 21st. The last six months have certainly been challenging, but I see now that the time needed to get the approval was there for me to heal, learn, and create.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I kind of feel that if the road is smooth, you aren’t trying hard enough, you know? If we don’t fail, we don’t learn from our mistakes, and learning from our mistakes helps us to succeed. With that said, I think there have been an equal amount of bumps in the road as there have been celebrations.
Again, recently having to wait for the approval of zoning and licensing to be able to operate my business was like a mountain in the road. But it was there for a reason. It gave me time to heal the loss of my dog. It gave me time to learn about where I really want to take my business and to make sure that I’m working smarter, not harder. It gave me the opportunity to create, which is what being a CEO is all about!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a healing facilitator. I specialize in energy work as a Reiki Master Teacher and Akashic Records Master, as well as in Past Life Regressions. I create bath bombs and shower steamers with a purpose called Witch Bombs and Steamers. They are non-toxic, organic, and vegan. Currently, the ones we have available cannot only cleanse your energy but uplift it and ground it. Making fulfilling your purpose easy, safe, and effective.
I think what sets me apart from others is that I really do care about my client’s needs. I like to provide a safe and sacred space so that my clients feel at ease when we’re working together. I am open and honest and don’t make promises that I can’t keep. I like to keep in touch with my clients to make sure they are doing okay after a session, as well as just being there for them if they have questions.
I am most proud of my time on The Blox because that was a pretty big deal for me. I really got out of my comfort zone- traveling by myself, the first time away from my daughter, not knowing anyone, needing to network with strangers, being on camera, as well as competing! It was such a great experience though, and I’m glad that I did it!
How do you think about luck?
I don’t really believe in luck or coincidence. I believe that everything happens as it should and sometimes those things are great and sometimes those things just suck. I do try to be grateful for all of it though because it’s happening for a reason. Either I worked really hard to make it happen or I made a mistake and needed to learn a lesson.
