Daily Inspiration: Meet Melissa Drew & Hex Hypoxia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Drew & Hex Hypoxia

Hi Melissa Drew & Hex Hypoxia , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Separately we both started over a decade ago. It’s been a long time! We became good friends over the last few years and found ourselves working together more & more. Then two years ago we formed our own business together, Ghouls & Glamour, traveling between Colorado & Texas, as that’s where Hex was based out of. Now we’re both local & on a schedule of creating a variety of content several days a week together. From livestreams, to comedy skits, photos, a short horror film, & now a clothing design collaboration with local designer Bête Noire!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We don’t believe any road starting out is smooth, but you learn to ride out the bumps and focus on what is working and what isn’t working for you. The distance between us was definitely our biggest hurdle, but with Hex moving to Colorado it’s been a huge improvement for our brand!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Together we have sort of combined our long standing internet brands into Ghouls & Glamour. We started primarily streaming on Twitch together – hosting gaming & movie nights. We’ve since shifted focus into comedy & fashion – often with a gothic horror twist. We just finished shooting the short horror film Frankenbabes from Beyond on the Grave with director Andrew Bowser and are looking forward to that hitting the movie festival circuit. Now we’re working on our own special designs with local gown designer Bête Noire!

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I don’t actually think it effected either one of our jobs, since we’re self employed and work from home – I think the biggest lesson came from adapting to over saturated markets that we are long time veterans of that all saw a big influx of new people due to Covid.
