Today we’d like to introduce you to Luna Foss Sincere.
Hi Luna, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Art has been a cornerstone of my life from the beginning. Whether it was watching my mom painting murals as an infant or being around my creative father, I was drawn to creating and being expressive. My family has often said I started painting as soon as I could hold a paintbrush. Which is true, I started making art daily by the age of three and have enjoyed it since. Dabbling into all kinds of art by my teens such as makeup fx, sculpture, murals, resin, wood working, set and prop design, flow arts, fluid arts and photography. I had the freedom to experiment with all kinds of things as a kid. As I get older, I appreciate and can see how much of a counterculture lifestyle so I grew up in.
Currently, I’ve been pursuing modeling almost full-time. Which I’ve really wanted to attempt since I was a teen. Though I started about two years ago I’ve done more than four runways this year so far, finding them on my own. I don’t have an agency, I like being in control of my career as much as I can be. But that does mean I have to also be my own photographer, editor, lighting, crew, model, and promoter. Thankfully I’ve done that enough to be very comfortable with it. I like being a collector of hobbies, which I am. I have a lot of ambitions though, like gogo dancing and performance.
If you haven’t seen me around downtown, you might since I am frequently there! One of my favorite things is to hunt down fun events and check them out. Outside of my creative hobbies I love to be outdoors, sightsee, forage, learn, spend quality time with friends, research, read, meditate, cook, club, and try all kinds of wild new things!
I feel this is a very different stage of my life though. As a teen, I never left the house. I had no friends, I was not popular in Highschool. I avoided everyone out of anxiety and self shame. I never envisioned myself being an active part of the nightlife of Denver. But as a kid, things were very different as well. Sometimes looking back on your childhood can feel like a different lifetime, especially when you were exposed to things you didn’t fully appreciate. Lots of parties, adventures. Though typically I was in the background as a kid.
Originally I was born in California but have been residing in Colorado off and on since 2002. Moving to Florida and back, between seven or more elementary schools over the course of my life and throughout the country. My parents would take me with when they traveled widespread when I was as young as three, even if we were scraping by financially. To Cuba, driving to Baja and back several times, cross country to Florida. Lots of memories get lost. After seeing a lot of the world, I’ve always craved to explore and learn about the world. I think I would crave that either way. I want to see all of the world! So I think that’s why I post so many adventures as a result.
This year has been a process of relearning who I am in pieces because I have tried so many things. Deciding between where I want to exert my energy and how I can find my audience. I’m passionate about being an advocate for a lot of things that we turn a blind eye to. One being our climate crisis and pollution. My motives behind getting anywhere with social media would be to speak on important issues, be heard and show the world my life on a deeper level. At the core, I believe in non violence, helping the planet, sustainable living and advocating for what’s important.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The past few years since 2020 have been very turbulent and held little security for me in more ways than one. Each year seeming progressively worse and kind of crumbling away at my optimism for how the word can sustain itself. Lots of family difficulties. But last year was slightly better.
The hardest things this year being my aunt dying, cutting off a best friend, losing my dream job and my boyfriend, all in the same month. I am still finding my way but I spent a lot of time putting off my dreams until last year. Now, I am thankful to see my effort going somewhere and that I am truly capable. Getting into vending, becoming an established model and more.
Lately I’m being pulled a hundred different directions. But I am better than I once was. I’m in a bit of a healthier mindset now.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve been trying some new things lately like custom charm chokers and belts! Which I’ve always wanted to sell. I take belts with O-rings and customize them with charms and chain arrangements. Plus making my own layered chain necklaces. You might have seen me at places like HearseCon, CO Festival of horror, GothSwap or darkness over Denver where I vended.
From the start, I was raised in acrylic, painting, and graphite drawings but now I’ve taken college courses in watercolor and oil painting. Making me pretty versatile in every form of painting. I taught myself to be ambidextrous through multi media & painting. I also do create jewelry, headdresses, upcycled clothing, sculpt, paint logos, resin art, faux arrangements, and other creepy crafts!
Since I was a teen I’ve loved adding studs onto outfits so I am looking into making my own studded chokers and bracelets. I am also reselling outfits of mine that I have up cycled or no longer need on my Etsy.
Another thing I’ve been focusing on is planning events outside of the club scene people might enjoy. A couple times me and a committee of other goths threw a small tea party called Darkness over Denver to bring out the community! It went really well.
I am a pretty frequent face around the Denver club scene. Eventually I would like to create more enriching events to Denver that it doesn’t fully have yet. I have a feeling these different paths of business, one day will overlap.
What makes you happy?
I really love witnessing something for the first time, like a new song or movie. Small luxuries like driving to my favorite art store or sitting at a perch eating a nice meal can a day changer. At the core my heart is drawn to the soft, loving things in this world.
It makes me happy to learn, to grow and build deep connections with others. To protect the earth, animals and insects. Advocate. To see the world and instill good into it.
