Life & Work with Chandra Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chandra Jones

Hi Chandra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in a home that embraced alternative approaches to health. My mother, who identified as a “new ager,” instilled a focus on wholesome nutrition and limited our exposure to the conventional medical system. As a child, I often resisted these practices, seeking out junk food whenever I was away from home. However, as I grew older and became a mother myself, I began to appreciate the importance of those early lessons in health and wellness.

When my own health took a significant downturn, I initially turned to western medicine, but found it led to chronic illness without alleviating my pain. This prompted me to explore alternative medicine, where I discovered a holistic approach that nurtured my body, mind, and spirit. I began by studying herbalism, dedicating many hours to learning plant identification and herbal medicine-making. This knowledge evolved into a small business, allowing me to share these healing practices with my community.

Seeking to expand my skills, I pursued formal education in massage therapy and became a licensed practitioner, adding another therapeutic modality to benefit friends, family, and the wider community. Currently, I am in my second year of homeopathy school, with the goal of becoming a homeopathic practitioner. My long-term vision is to establish an integrative medicine practice, where I can support others on their journey to health and wellness.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As previously mentioned, I encountered significant health challenges during my pregnancy with my daughter. Unfortunately, the care I received during and after labor was inadequate, which led to a series of ongoing health issues and ultimately resulted in a hysterectomy at the age of 27. Although I was assured by my doctors that the surgery would resolve my problems, I continued to experience pain. Despite their inability to provide answers or relief, and being told I would need to manage a chronic condition for the rest of my life, I refused to accept that outcome.

Determined to find a better path, I turned to integrative medicine. Through the use of herbal remedies, yoga, meditation, homeopathy, and massage therapy, I was able to reclaim my health. Today, I live comfortably, free from the need for harsh medications or invasive treatments.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My daughter often tells me that I’m addicted to learning, but I see it as setting a powerful example for her future and demonstrating what can be achieved through perseverance and dedication. Over the past five years, I have transformed from a single mother managing a debilitating condition to a healthy, thriving professional, and I am proud of all I have accomplished in such a short time. I look forward to the future with optimism, continually seeking knowledge and growth.

I believe we are living in a time where true healing is urgently needed. With more people suffering from chronic illness than ever before, our current healthcare system fails to foster long-term health, and the broken state of our food system is taking a toll on the well-being of future generations. I am committed to offering an alternative path for those who seek better health and are open to exploring integrative and holistic approaches to wellness.

One of the greatest gifts of my life has been the opportunity to teach others about these modalities and create a supportive environment for healing and transformation. I am grateful for this purpose every day.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I understand that the path to healing can be challenging, often feeling like an uphill battle. To anyone currently on that journey, I extend my deepest empathy. My hope is that this article encourages others to explore alternative healthcare modalities. When we provide our bodies with the right environment, they have the remarkable ability to heal, and I am profoundly grateful to my own body for demonstrating this truth.

Nature offers us powerful lessons on how to nurture our well-being. Take a moment to reconnect with the earth—walk barefoot on fresh soil or soft grass, or immerse yourself in the solitude of a hike. Pay attention to the subtle messages the universe may be sending. It’s time to reclaim our health and live life to its fullest potential.
