Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Koenig.
Sharon, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Helping women start to build and grow their business and create a massive impact on the world came out of my own journey of struggling as an entrepreneur and single mom after starting my own life over after a divorce.
I have been an entrepreneur with my ex-husband for 20 years prior and built our first business from a $500 dollar investment to over half a million dollars in one year. My background in marketing and business came in handy as we began our life together when we first married and started our business but there were other problems. It wasn’t all sunshine and puppies. After 20 years, divorce completely side-blinded me and crushed all of my dreams. I fell apart. Laying on the floor in a deep depression was no longer an option for me, I had to put myself together and take care of my three kids. I was all they had now. Having to start all over was evident now and I HAD to figure out what I was going to do. Strangely, looking for a j-o-b was the furthest thing from my mind. All I knew how to do was to be a business owner. It seemed inconceivable to me to look for a job. I HAD to start a business. After many sleepless nights, crying and LOTS of journalling. It was decided, I would start a skin spa. After going to school for aesthetics, graduating and getting all the necessary licenses it was time to get creative. I put together a marketing plan, rented and built out a suite. My beautiful skin spa was born and I was elated.
In a year’s time, I was able to pay for all of my equipment and have enough money to move to a bigger building. Things seemed to be going even better than I expected. I was excited about my success and a new lifestyle of providing for my kids. I put my heart and soul into the business and watched it grow but in my heart, I knew something was missing. All the while I was building this business, my family was falling apart. In my previous businesses when I was married, I homeschooled my kids and was able to run the business from home. Doing all of the business, administrative, hiring and marketing tasks was easy to do from home. It made taking care of the kids a breeze. With my new business, however, I was physically working in a brick and mortar skin spa. After a few years of doing this and seeing how my kids didn’t have a mom or a dad around as much, I found they hadn’t adjusted as I had hoped. I began feeling depressed and really worried. It seemed fighting between the kids and disorganization was our new normal in the house. What had I done? That quote, “Be careful what you wish for…” was a joke between my friends and me. Through those few years, as I was building my skin spa, my clientele would often ask as they’re laying on the facial bed, how I was able to grow the business so fast. I found myself giving advice on planning, organizing, high-performing habits, mindset, and marketing. I secretly LOVED these talks. I loved sharing what I knew about building a business, not just that but I would geek out on goal-setting and habits to get more done in a short amount of time.
Finally, one client who was really more like a friend because she had been coming in to see me for so long, said to me, “That’s great advice, you know you could charge for this.” This made so much sense. People hire personal trainers or nutrition coaches, of course, people needed high-performance coaching in their positions as leaders or business owners too. The light bulb went off and my life was about to drastically change again. I threw myself into the idea of being a life and business coach. I sold my skin spa and invested my money into being a digital nomad and started my business consulting and coaching business. My heart for women struggling and starting their life over or simply just going after the moon and the stars is a daily passion now. It’s amazing to be able to teach, empower and watch my clients rise and do amazing things in the world. Some just want to be better leaders in their positions within a corporation while others want to make their mark on the world and bring products and services to the masses.
I know the struggle of a woman starting over. I know the mind lies that infest her psyche and keep her playing small. I know what it takes to bring an idea to reality through a combination of business strategies and personal growth tactics. I’ve made it my mission to help as many women as possible play bigger roles in our society but more than that, to ask for more out of their own lives. Women have come a long way over time, yet there’s still so much more work to be done. My belief is that a woman should live a full life in all areas and if she has a gift, she should uncover it and boldly shine but never shrink into her doubts and fears. With the right skills, knowledge, and habits she will fearlessly pursue her dreams confidently and leave a beautiful legacy behind. Knowledge and aspirations can only take her so far but most women don’t know that. It’s her mind, her habits, her goals and the fact that she doesn’t see her OWN potential that keeps her from reaching the level of success that she wants and deserves. Fearless Pursuits was my brainchild to teach and help women entrepreneurs start, build and grow their businesses, to live the lives they hold in their heart and mind’s eye… to create a massive impact on the world-fearlessly.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There was nothing smooth about my journey. Some of the struggles where balancing time with going back to school, starting to date again after my divorce, keeping the house clean and kids fed. The behind-the-scenes building of my business meant many late nights brainstorming and designing. The doubt was a daily fight within myself and plagued my thoughts constantly.
Then after I sold my skin spa, selling nearly everything I had in both my business and personal life was nothing short of surreal. Being able to travel with my kids and experience new places all the while building my new business was stressful, fun but absolutely transformative.
What do you do? What do you specialize in?
I help women start, build and grow their businesses, their minds, habits, and goals to create the freedom and life that excites them and impacts the world. I’m known as the subconscious mind whisperer. I dig deep with women to uncover their purpose, dreams, and goals. Once we bring this to the surface, we can implement solid strategies to take massive action. What I’m most proud of, is how I’m a part of helping women build legacies that make our world a better place. What sets me apart from others is now being trained under Tony Robbins has enabled me to provide real transformation to those who are committed to their lives through the same strategies as well as NLP subconscious mind work. I combine business strategies with high-performance inner work.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment is one I live over and over each time a woman reaches her goals in her career, life or business.
