Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessie Tierney, PT, DPT.
Hi Jessie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After a close friend suffered a work-related accident, none of the conventional treatments seemed to help. His post-concussion symptoms not only persisted but worsened over the years. In our search for alternatives, we discovered Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM). After he experienced what can only be described as a remarkable recovery, I felt deeply inspired to return to school and pursue my Doctorate in Physical Therapy. My goal was to become a licensed practitioner and integrate FSM into my clinical work.
As a long-time yoga instructor, this path felt like a natural extension of my passion for helping people reconnect with their bodies and breath. However, after graduating and beginning work in a traditional therapy setting, I quickly realized that the constraints of the insurance model limited what I could offer my patients. Determined to provide the care and time each person deserved, I opened my own practice—one where I could use FSM freely and innovatively, without external restrictions diluting the effectiveness of treatment.
What began as an alternative approach soon evolved into a journey of discovery. I found that FSM could influence a wide range of conditions, including hypermobility spectrum disorders, vagus nerve dysregulation, mold toxicity, nervous system imbalances, and even the rapid resolution of blood clots—a finding I’ll be presenting at a medical conference this coming February. My background in the arts (I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree) shapes my perspective; I see myself as a creative collaborator in the growing field of Frequency Medicine. Each case challenges and inspires me to explore new frontiers in what this modality can achieve.
In August 2024, I relocated my practice from Niwot to Longmont and have grown to love this community deeply. It’s an honor to support individuals often dismissed by conventional medicine as “untreatable” or “all in their head.” I’m profoundly grateful for the chance to contribute to this emerging field, which I truly believe holds the future of medicine.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Honestly, one of my biggest obstacles is that I have so much enthusiasm for what I do, for learning, researching, and disseminating that I find I wish I had two of me to accomplish all of my goals. I have dreams to start an FSM Research Foundation so that we can really get this field off the ground and produce meaningful research that supports the basic science of what we do clinically. I also want to open a multidisciplinary Retreat Center that helps people reconnect with the natural world, which is ultimately what we all need to do to heal. That, on top of quality, one-to-one time with my patients, adds up quickly and I find myself wishing I had more time!
We’ve been impressed with Resonant Frequency Medicine, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a Doctor of Physical Therapy, and my work centers around advancing the field of Frequency Medicine. I specialize in Frequency Specific Microcurrent, or FSM, a therapeutic modality that I was privileged to study directly under its founder, Dr. Carol McMakin. Today, I serve as both a Certified Practitioner and a Practicum Instructor with Frequency Specific Seminars.
In my clinical experience, I have witnessed the profound potential of FSM to support healing in complex cases. I have presented multiple case studies—including the use of FSM in treating complications from failed Fundoplication surgery, resolving deep vein thrombosis within 90 minutes, and supporting a patient with multiple sclerosis to achieve a remarkable recovery. Additionally, I have taught on testing & treatment of the vagus nerve at the Frequency Specific Seminars Advanced Symposium.
My patients often refer to me as “the Glad Scientist,” a reflection of my genuine enthusiasm and dedication to exploring the remarkable, and at times seemingly impossible, outcomes that Frequency Medicine can facilitate. My mission is to ensure that this therapy remains both accessible and available to all who may benefit from it. I mentor and teach both beginning and advanced practitioners and offer consultation to anyone interested in learning more about FSM.
I am deeply committed to lifelong learning and interdisciplinary collaboration. I hold certifications as a HeartMath Practitioner and Yoga Instructor, and I have completed advanced training through the Institute of Physical Art, Functional NeuroMyoFascial Technique, and the Barral Institute.
In addition to my clinical work, I have co-authored a published case study on Cranial Movement Therapy for Post-Concussion Syndrome and will be presenting two abstracts at an upcoming medical conference: a randomized controlled trial on pranayama for chronic low back pain, and a study on FSM in the resolution of DVT.
My private practice, Resonant Frequency Medicine, is located in Longmont, Colorado, just north of Boulder, and I can also support remote patients via Telehealth. There, I have the privilege of integrating Frequency Medicine into comprehensive, patient-centered care designed to restore balance, resilience, and vitality.
