Meet Madison Spangler of Denver, CO

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Spangler.

Hi Madison, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After getting an engineering degree, I jumped into the corporate world where I spent 15 years learning the ins-and-outs of the energy industry. My roles ranged from engineering to project management to digital strategy to investor relations, and I had the unique opportunity to work alongside a breadth of colleagues, from the technicians who kept our assets running to our CFO, who ensured our business was sound and future-proof.

And while I loved the security and predictability of my corporate role, a spark was lit when my husband and I purchased our first home in the Park Hill neighborhood of Denver. The house itself needed some major TLC, but together we tackled a full renovation – we’re talking renting a jackhammer at Home Depot to tear out the basement slab and taking the test at the City of Denver Permitting Office in order to pull all new electrical ourselves! We learned A LOT! And immediately, I started day-dreaming about future projects and how to turn this new-found passion into a career.

Enter real estate! I’m so excited to have made the transition to real estate, offering my services to home buyers and sellers across Denver. My diverse background helps me tackle each transaction from a unique perspective and ensures my clients are confident as they make what is likely the biggest purchase of their lives!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Many skills from my prior career translate beautifully to residential real estate. My project management skills mean we never miss a contract deadline. My engineering experience means I have the utmost attention to detail. And my investor relations background means my communication is effective and respectful, even in the heat of negotiations!

The challenges arise on the personal side. It’s admittedly very scary to make a career pivot in your late 30s. I was on a great trajectory with a lot of stability, and I took a big chance to try something that stirs up some passion. The 401k and vacation time are distant memories, but I’ve learned that taking control of my own career is far more rewarding!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a licensed Realtor in Colorado, I work diligently for my clients – from first-time home buyers to those looking for mountain-getaways. No matter the client or their experience, knowledge, or price point, I pride myself on my ability to instill confidence throughout the transaction. I treat every client with customized service to meet their needs and ensure their satisfaction.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I think we all have the ability to create an environment where luck can be found. We often don’t see when people are laying the groundwork for their next big move, so it’s easy to write off their success as luck. But lucky people are generally also the ones working hard, taking risks, and jumping hurdles when no one else is looking!
