Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Hashemi.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 2010, my daughter Sarah was diagnosed with Lupus. She was 24 at the time, mother of 3-year-old Andra. She had been experiencing physical symptoms for quite some time and had been incorrectly diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis before we finally convinced her doctor (after our adamant and relentless insistence that he figures out what was really wrong with her) to perform further tests. In July 2010, she finally received a correct diagnosis. She was placed on some medications that were thought to provide some likely relief for her symptoms of random and very severe pain and joint swelling. They did not. She grew progressively worse, suffering from fatigue and near-constant excruciating pain. Her illness, an autoimmune disease which caused her own body to attack itself, went after all her body’s major organs, causing problems with her heart and lungs, kidneys and digestive system. She went into kidney failure and had to receive dialysis every other day. Her lungs filled with fluid, her heart became hardened on one side, she had no appetite and couldn’t eat, and she grew worse every day. She had Systemic Lupus Nephritis, the worst form the disease can take. Except for about three weeks, she spent the entire last year of her life in different hospitals, being transferred to one after another when the doctors found they couldn’t help her. She passed away on April 9, 2012. She had designated her will to be an organ donor on her driver’s license, but upon her death, the only part of her body that could be used to help anyone was the cornea of one eye. The rest of her poor little body had been destroyed by the disease that had attacked her so remorselessly.
For several years, I became somewhat numb, moving through life and enjoying time with my precious sons, their dear families, my wonderful grandchildren, but with unspeakable grief. After some time, traditional grief counseling and then some more spiritually-guided grief counseling I found myself on a new spiritual path, learning about some of the realms outside of traditional Judeo-Christian beliefs. A friend introduced me to an amazing Shaman and Counselor, Julianne Santini, who provided more spiritual and holistic therapy. She introduced me to Integrated Energy Therapy, or IET, which allowed me to release some of my pain from loss, from heartbroken grief. She introduced me to acceptance of love and support from my Angels, as some call them, or my Guides, as they are called by others. IET is a way of addressing our pain, grief, and trauma at a cellular level, softening the energy within us and allowing us to release it and incorporate a healthier, more loving energy into our bodies and embraced by our souls. “Integrated Energy Therapy ® was developed at the Center of Being, in upstate New York, by Center founder Stevan Thayer. Mr. Thayer is an engineer, an ordained minister, a Reiki Master and the author of Interview with an Angel, in which he channeled for Angel Ariel. His work with IET has been televised in the US and is spreading worldwide.” (from https://feelbettertherapies.com)
At Julianne’s suggestion, I began to learn how to practice IET to be able to help others. I wanted to bring this powerfully positive and loving energy into the lives of my family members, friends, people I care about. I love to bring about awareness of the possibilities of improved lives, the removal of traumatic pain from deep within us. I believe we are able to bring positive and loving soul health into the world through the power of a loving universe, our Angels, the richness of love around us.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a difficult road. There is still grief and pain. I feel fortunate to have my loving family, my grandchildren whom I adore. I’m lucky to have friends who have introduced me to the many people with whom I’ve worked along my path, people who have opened my eyes to more universal possibilities, expansion of our limited beliefs and endless opportunities to delve more deeply into our universal links and connections to love.
Those with closed minds suffer because so much opportunity is lost. If we open our minds and hearts to the possibilities of science and spirituality, we can find the universe holds much more than we could have ever imagined.
Please tell us about your work.
I am a Law Firm Management Advisor for How To Manage A Small Law Firm. I coach Solo Attorney Practitioners and small Law Firm Owners on how to manage the business side of running their small businesses. In law school, lawyers learn about the law; in practice, they learn even more. But they are not taught how to run their businesses as the entrepreneurs they are. I’m very proud of the work we do at How To Manage in helping attorneys, as business owners, achieve their dreams.
As an HR Manager, with a SHRM-SCP (Society for Human Resource Management – Senior Certified Professional) designation, and as a Legal Administrator and Director of Operations in Denver-area law firms, I have spent many years working and gaining experience in the dos and don’ts of law firm management. As a former Board member and former President of the Mile High Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators, a 200+ member organization, I learned about being a leader and helping to bring about change and development in effective and successful ways. In my work with How To Manage, I’ve found a place where I can bring my love of coaching, mentoring and inspiring others to my everyday work life. It’s a dream come true.
Who have you been inspired by?
I’ve been fortunate in my life to have had many women inspire me. My daughter Sarah, from whom I learned so much about love, perseverance and tenacity, inspired me in her courageous daily struggle, despite such severe and debilitating pain, to survive and be strong for her daughter, Andra. My daughter-in-law Karen Hashemi inspires me in her work as a midwife. She brings enormous compassion, comfort, and amazing expertise to her work in helping women go through the tremendous highs and lows of pregnancy and childbirth. My Shaman, Julianne Santini, has taught me so much and opened my mind to such extraordinary opportunities in my life. Barbara Randell, local Denver businesswoman, former Chair of the Colorado Judicial Institute and founder of Future Image Group, amazes and inspires me with her vision, insight, and courage. My closest women friends continually inspire me in the ways they live their lives with truth and authenticity.
