Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Lefebvre.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Rebecca. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My education and training is as a social worker and registered nurse. I have cared for babies less than a pound and aging adults over one hundred years old. As I witnessed the lives of others unfold, mountains of knowledge, insight, and awareness were formed. And, although I was a proponent of self care, in 2014 the intensity of those years brought me to a halt. The stories that I had accumulated weighed heavy on my heart. I knew I needed to do something.
As I was completing a life review, I realized I had been gifted real-life stories of despair coupled with epic transitions. I had witnessed babies, children, teens, and adults use consistent techniques to transform their disheartened spirit into strength and tenacity. Sitting back and reflecting, I realized I could share these tools, techniques, and dispositions using simple metaphors and etheric watercolor to inspire change, promote possibilities, and encourage self-healing.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We are a species compelled to uncover and create every possible kind of challenge. With that kind of certainty, we will never lack problems. Life is hard but it is so much easier and much more palatable when we are able to tackle our struggles with the help of others and admit we are imperfect.
I have been gifted remarkable experiences because I took risks; I chose to be authentic, present, and honest. While this approach has led to a few very painful partnerships, it has offered wisdom beyond my years. It has taught me to live consciously and purposefully – and that problems are possibilities. I trust they will arise. So I remain committed to doing my work and acquiring skills, tools, and knowledge to see the capacity and opportunity in even those things that bring sadness and confusion. Those struggles will make me a better human.
Avec La Vie – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
In 2014 I created a company and named it Avec La Vie. The translation of this name is “With Life”. It is a mantra; a reminder that to experience life and accomplish the work of our lifetime we have to “be” with every aspect of it – good, bad, beautiful, or ugly. As part of this vision to inspire self-awareness, connection, and possibility, I initially started with one deck of cards, a few associated products (notecards, journals, and calendars) and self-published my first children’s book: Morning, Noon & Night.
After four years of sales, I retired the art from my first deck and decided to rename, redesign and rewrite the deck. I hired a friend (a fantastic illustrator and human being named Phoebe) and we completed our first collaborative art project – the Fauna Inspiration deck. About six months after completing Fauna Inspiration, we released Flora Healing in May of this year. We are presently working on a third deck (the final deck of the series) called Fantastic Being. We hope to have this third deck completed before the end of the year. These three decks are part of a larger project called Finding Essentia; a book and mental wellness program I have been developing since 2018. This program plus a dozen more books are waiting to manifest magic.
When I started Avec La Vie, I had no idea what I was getting into but that is the beauty of life. I now have connections I never would have if I hadn’t taken the risk. And I have customers and clients on nearly every continent. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined my little decks would find themselves traveling the globe.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is trying. It’s taking responsibility for your actions and be dedicated to your work. Passion isn’t a necessity, but query is. Answers won’t come unless we ask. Growth won’t occur unless we try. It is about digging-in and making life happen.
