Life and Work with Jessica Jacobson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Jacobson.

Jessica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Nourish was created with a simple desire: to give busy women access to tools, resources, and support that provides nourishment from the inside out.  As someone who has struggled with everything from drug and alcohol abuse, to toxic relationships and having zero self-worth, I know the healing process all too well. My personal journey toward healing began in my late twenties when out of nowhere I started to experience depression, anxiety, frequent panic attacks, extreme fatigue, and just an overall feeling of hopelessness.  Years of suppressed emotional pain, trauma, and living an unhealthy lifestyle started to manifest in my physical body. I made a decision to throw away the prescription medications and enrolled in a program for holistic nutrition.  This gave me the tools that I needed to heal my own body and through health coaching I helped other women do the same.  But I started to realize that physical healing was just one piece of the overall puzzle.  Even though I was now eating healthy and teaching my clients to do the same, I still felt out of balance in my spiritual body, relationships, and purpose in life.

Over the last ten years, I slowly started to address those other key areas so that I could work toward creating balance and eventually helping other women work through this as well.

Now at 42 years young, it’s my belief that when we look at the big picture and start to address each of these areas, beautiful things happen.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely still a work in progress, but I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to be on the journey right alongside you.  Please know that you’re beautiful, and our world desperately needs every ounce of that beauty!

Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road for me. There are good days and bad days, and I think the biggest emotion that I deal with is fear. Fear of failure, fear of what people think, fear of the unknown, fear of not knowing enough. I’ve learned that when these negative thoughts surface, I immediately shut them down, fill my mind with positive thoughts and keep moving forward.

The best advice I can given is just don’t give up! It will get hard and there will be days that you question your decision to start a business but you have to keep going. Always go back to your why and what the world would be missing out on if you gave up on your dreams. Every successful entrepreneur has failed a ton, and what has separated them from the rest is that they refused to give up.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Nourish by Jessica – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I love empowering busy, professional women to find more balance, purpose, and ultimately open up endless possibilities in their lives. We focus on four key areas together: Career/Purpose, Health/Wellness, Spirituality, and Relationships. I offer one on one coaching programs, highly interactive corporate workshops, and online course content.

I worked as a sales professional for over 15 years and started health coaching part-time ten years ago. I realized that my clients had far deeper needs than just eating healthier and losing weight.

What really sets me apart is the fact that I take a whole life approach with my clients. More times than not, the reason that they are burnt out at work or having health issues is actually related to imbalance in one of the other key areas. I apply my formal coaching training but also my real-life experiences professionally and personally to connect on a deeper level.

Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
Absolutely! I think what we’re seeing now is a huge shift in the way people view inclusion and diversity. I love focusing on all the positive media that highlights articles titled “The number of women running Fortune 500 companies is at a record high” and “The U.S. just got its first black woman professor of neurosurgery in 2018”. Don’t get me wrong there are still some serious issues to be dealt with. But when we focus on how far we’ve come, its so empowering and the sky is the limit!
