Meet Trailblazer Kristi Castle Africano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristi Castle Africano.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kristi. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My gifts as a healer came to me at a young age growing up on the East Coast of the United States. I was told quite often I was a healer and that would be my path. This was shared with me through Indigenous American Indian friends, local healers, and spiritualists in my community. We would spend many days walking along the river and learning about the earth’s healing gifts, long nights out in nature by the fire, and playing music in ceremonies. Many times it was simply sitting in the quiet of our own minds and letting nature guide us. I would find this later in life to come through me in sharing guided meditations. Fast forward, many years later after I made the move to Colorado. I had been doing very prominent corporate work in the health and technology industry making a remarkable living for such a young woman. However, I knew in the depths of my soul that I wasn’t following my true calling. I decided to simply look into massage therapy believing at the time for it to be a doorway into sharing my gifts.

What I found was exactly what I had been looking for. The ability to create my own world, share my passions as a healer, athlete, and guide. I started my practice immediately following school. As required, I had been doing plenty of work for free and in trade to begin growing my practice. I started working with professional UFC fighters doing sports massage and cranial sacral therapy. Word of mouth then put professional skateboarders and snowboarders at my door. From there, the music industry received word of my work from their friends and suddenly as musicians came through to tour Denver, my phone was ringing. Somehow even with all of this growth and excitement, I was ready for a change. The mountains were calling. I sold my house and moved my business from the city to Steamboat Springs, Colorado. I adored this “little” mountain town. Here, I established my practice quickly, also via word of mouth, and grew my business from just myself to having multiple therapists working for me in a Sports Massage Therapy Center. This enabled me to keep a home base for work while I was traveling all over the world with members of the US Olympic Nordic Combined Ski Team as well as the Norwegian National Snowboard Team. It truly was a dream come true. I was able to see the efforts of my work in action in the field and provide more than just bodywork for my clients.

We would start our mornings by hitting the gym together, then end our days with stretching and recovery massage. I was able to work with them prior to getting on the snow, envisioning their runs/jumps and practicing meditation behind the scenes away from the cameras, so that they could perform at their best. Years later, I was ready to have my next dream come true, being a Mom, Wife and growing a family. I knew the road wasn’t something I was going to do forever and I am so grateful to have had the experience. I moved back to the “city” and found the perfect little mountain home in Evergreen, Colorado. Here, I chose to go back to my roots and my original passion for running a simple private practice. Managing a large center after starting a family just didn’t feel right anymore. It’s easy to get caught up in the day to day and get away from our core love. Helping our clients one on one, seeing them heal and grow into their best versions of themselves and helping them reach their own individual goals. In Evergreen, I have helped so many do just this and I am happier than ever.

Has it been a smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? Of course not, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Our choices ultimately help shape who we are and where we go. In reality, I moved my business four times! During this time, I went from having two large practices with doctors and other massage therapists working for me to 2 private practices as I found the right place to raise a family. Moving and changing business is hard work. You have to rebuild clientele, do new marketing, and find the perfect space. It can be exhausting. If you are passionate, if you are truly gifted at what you do, if you want it bad enough, you will make it happen. There is nowhere to go but up.

We’d love to hear more about Sports Massage & Intuitive Healing by Kristi.
I have been practicing since 2004 and I adore what I do. I have worked with everyone from professional athletes and musicians to moms and teen athletes. I am always learning and growing and it is within this space that I am able to provide each and every client with what they are looking for as individuals.

I specialize in what I like to call corrective bodywork. This includes my own combination of Sports Massage, Neuromuscular Therapy, Thai Massage, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Stretching, Motivation, Guided Breath Work and Meditation, Visualization and Intuitive Healing. I believe that this type of bodywork is a team effort. If you are ready for change, if you are ready to meet and exceed your goals from the inside out, I am here to help open that door for you. You just have to want to walk through it.
