Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Campbell.
Ashley, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I was in undergrad at Colorado State University, I knew I wanted to help people and walk with them on their health journey. When they were hurting or sick, but also when they were feeling great and to help keep them feeling great. So, while I was exploring different professions I came across Chiropractic and the philosophy lined up exactly with my desire to help others.
From there, I applied and was accepted to chiropractic school and moved to Texas. The more I learned, the more I fell in love with my profession. As time went by, I met and started dating my now husband, who was a classmate and when we graduated in Dec. 2014, we moved to back to Colorado and opened up our practice.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a business/practice was not smooth. My husband and I looked at 8 different office before we found the home for our practice. We also worked nights shoveling and plowing snow to make money. Then during the day we created our paperwork, and systems, and learned how to use our software, and searched for places to practice. We did all of this in our first year of marriage. It was not glamorous. But we pushed through and worked hard. It was our dream to start a practice and to help people with chiropractic. We knew if we worked really hard at the time our dream would become reality.
My advice is first getting a coach, there are so many things when you first start your business that you do not know. So, hire someone who does know and who will have your best interest in mind. Why not stand on the shoulders of giants as Isaac Newton says and save yourself some of the hardship and failures along the way.
Second piece of advice is to be willing to work hard, be willing to put in the time, the effort, the money to go after your dream.
And finally, always, always, always be a student. Be willing to constantly improve yourself and become a better version of yourself so you can serve your people (customers, staff, family and friends) better.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Campbell Chiropractic – what should we know?
I have been practicing for four years now and have helped 1000’s of people. I love my job and I am excited to go to work every day. I love helping people have more nerve power, helping their brain and body communicate better so they can feel better and perform their best.
I love helping pregnant women through pregnancy and recover from birth, I love helping newborns and babies stay at 100% and making sure they are not developing abnormally. I love helping athletes get the extra edge they need to perform at their highest level.
I specialize in Pregnancy and Pediatric care and I am the Chiropractor in Centennial, Colorado and beyond.
Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
Finding a mentor or coach is a must. If you can find someone in your profession the better because they will understand the ins and outs of your business and the day to day activity.
Networking is also very helpful. For two reasons, first to get you connected and in community with like-minded professionals. Second to get your business known by more and more people. Business really is a popularity contest. The more people you know, and who know what you do, the more people you can serve.
I am in an awesome networking group called Christian Women Business Organizations (CWBO) and it is a Christ-centered business-oriented group. I have made great connects and friendships and I have gained a lot of business from the group as well. This group of women understands what is means to work hard in your business, but also to own and share your faith, and to care for your family.
