Meet Sommer Breeze of Blissful Botanicals in Colorado Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sommer Breeze.

Sommer, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The idea of Blissful Botanicals started about a year ago, I’ve always loved giving plants and terrariums as gifts. So I thought why not make cool things so people don’t have to put a ton of thought into what they want to give as a gift. I mean who doesn’t love a good plant. I believe that plants make life better. They enhance your mood, environment and overall well-being. My motto is together, let’s make the world a little greener.So last year I applied to the Old Colorado City Farmers Market and had amazing support from the community. I had so much fun doing the markets I decided to apply for some holiday pop ups. Again, amazing support from everyone. Thats when I realized I can make this my full time job. Waking up every day and doing what you love is everyones dream, right? I now have a home base which is Eclectic Co in downtown Colorado Springs. I couldn’t ask for a better place to call home. We are a Co-op of 50+ small business owners doing what we love helping each other grow in our community.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Honestly I have to say I really haven’t encountered a ton of struggles at this point. My business is still a baby and I’m definitely learning new things as I go along. There’s always going to be little hiccups but you just take from that as a little lesson and apply it to your do not do list. At this point my biggest struggle is probably my time management. I get caught up in creating and making new things and the next thing I know it’s midnight. But it’s been pretty good all around to this point.

Blissful Botanicals – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Blissful Botanicals is known for the variety of succulents, air plants and cacti in unique fun containers. I use nature’s art to design a variety of my creations.I offer specialty gift boxes and party favors for any kind of events. A typical box will have a plant, plant mister, candle, matches and a box of organic caramels. The “jellyfish” are probably everyones favorite plant baby.. It’s a sea urchin shell with an air plant to hang. I try to keep things as natural as possible. I collect aspens and create planters out of them. These are perfect presents for anyone.Those are probably a close second. I also make a few things out of wood. I offer a few different kinds of mountain shelves and triangles that come with a small plant, My latest creation are my moon phases made to order in a variety of colors and held up by either local driftwood found in the mountains or aspen.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is happiness in being able to do what you love. When you’re doing what you love and you have the love and support from your family, friends and community you are successful.
