Conversations with the Inspiring Monika Oginski Blanchard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monika Oginski Blanchard.

Monika, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am originally from Poland. When I came to Aspen 14 years ago, I found a position in a high-end Aspen boutique which I enjoyed very much. After five years of working successfully as a sales associate, I decided to try my own luck and created my very own European boutique FABOO.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The high rent and seasonal nature of business in Aspen were most challenging for me.

However, my advice to any woman; NEVER be afraid to pursue your passion! Trust your instincts to do what you desire. I started my shop with not many financial resources. First, I was renting just a tiny space in my friend’s seasonal store. I was lucky to have product women loved which allowed me to rent my very own space.

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I started to import women’s clothing from polish fashion-forward Designers/Artists. All the clothing was limited production made in small manufactures; often handmade. I was only importing from a couple of polish designers and the rare pieces became great sellers in my boutique. I am very proud of the excellence in the service we provide. We truly step out of our way to make our clients happy. Our mantra; Dress 4 Success! We serve our clients with honest professional advice. Honesty is the key to many returns clients.

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
Yes, I absolutely believe they are many opportunities! If we only can keep our eyes wide open and ask ourselves; what service and what job would make me happy? It is very important to do a job that brings us satisfaction, joy, excitement, and pride from a job well done versus financial reward only.
