Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Morse.
Ryan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My story started at an early age like most artists. I’ve always had a deep affection for art and I never lost that passion for creation. At a young age, I knew I wanted to be an artist. After high school, I attended Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. I received my BFA in illustration where I learned many of the skills I use today. After graduating I continued hone my skills, better myself. As an artist, you really never stop learning.
Today I mainly show in galleries and sell to private collectors. I also do commission work and the occasional convention.
I made it where I am by working my ass off and continually striving to be a better artist.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. After college, I fell into the gallery scene. I struggled for years as most artists do with making enough money to survive. I’ve tried to balance a day job with consistently making art. Its a struggle to stay motivated. My life as an artist is pockmarked with failures and rejection. These failures are what make you a better artist. If you can overcome these obstacles and learn from them, they will do more for you that any successful endeavor. Life as an artist is not easy, but it’s well worth it.
We’d love to hear more about your art.
My business is mainly self-driven, aside from the local galleries that help me spread my artwork with the community. I paint people, all people, and I enjoy what I do. I love Denver and the people who live and work here.
My artwork mainly specializes in portraiture and figurative paintings. What sets me apart is the drive to improve my work while staying true to my style and message as an artist.
“Morse’s artwork is a beautiful combination of abstracted representation, with imagery reflecting the artist’s deep affection for nature, and his fascination with the human figure. His figurative pieces depicted on soft abstracted backgrounds are striking, expressing the vast variety of human emotions. His brushstrokes, from delicate to sweeping, entice the eye to investigate his compositions up-close and from afar”
