Meet Edder Hernandez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Edder Hernandez.

Edder, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We all start our craft somewhere, whether it be a lifelong passion or a lifelong friend pushing you in the right direction. For me, the seed was planted early, my 10th-grade photography class. It wasn’t the teacher, and it wasn’t the class itself. It was the fact that for the first time in my young life, I had found something that forced me to challenge myself in a creative way. Unfortunately, one of the biggest disappoints in life is that something can start a fire in you, and it is not always what we end up doing. Fast forward several years later, it’s 2016 and I have a mundane full-time job; not where I thought I would be.

At the time, I thought I had one passion, and it wasn’t much; shoes. Believe it or not, I was reminded of my love of photography by taking candid shots of my collection. It didn’t take much, but all of a sudden, I was creating content again. I was challenging myself to build this passion, to build my craft, to be better with every shot. If anyone is going to learn anything from my story, it is that the passion and love you have for something can remain dormant within you, but it will never leave you. It is never too late to start the fire again.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I can tell you that it has not always been an easy road. The path to success involves smooth roads, bumpy roads, and roads that are closed off due to construction and forces you to find some out of the way detour. Juggling between a full-time job, a personal life, and photography, you do not always have the time to move your art forward. It has always been about making time and sometimes taking that time away from others, family and friends. But when you love doing something wholeheartedly, all the bumps and all the hardships make you love your craft even more. because you could always be doing nothing instead, and as a creator, that seems like a much bumpier road than the one I am on.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success can be defined in a myriad of ways. In today’s generation, it is easy to misconstrue what success means to us. it is easy to use our online personas as markers for our success, personally, I don’t agree with that. Success comes from within ourselves, and how happy we are with our own content and progression. As long as I am better than yesterday than I consider myself successful. what I think of myself is my only marker.
