Meet Annette Hullender of Emerald Fox Pin-Up in Aurora

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annette Hullender.

Annette, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Emerald Fox Pin-Up is a facet of Emerald Fox Productions, which I co-own with my husband, Ross Hullender. We are a full-service production company that offers audio, video and photography services. We are currently focusing on wedding videography and concert videos.

Emerald Fox Pin-Up began on September 9, 2018, so it is a very new company. Pin-Up photography is very body positive and is about empowering women to feel confident, beautiful and sexy. Most pin-up photography sessions have are shot with a 50’s theme in mind.

I started with a group shoot of my female friends and fell in love! I have since shot over a dozen women and have more scheduled on my calendar. I hope to continue expanding my business and to shoot more and more women in my studio.

Pin-Up photography is very body positive and is about empowering women to feel confident, beautiful and sexy.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I first started photography, I didn’t realize that most of my day would not be spent behind the camera, but on running my business. About 80-90% of being a photographer is actually business and marketing.

Emerald Fox Pin-Up – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Emerald Fox Pin-Up offers stylized photography sessions and focuses on empowering women. Many women hate getting their picture taken because they can’t imagine looking great in even one image. We love the opportunity to show women that they are beautiful and to inspire that confidence that comes from a pin-up shoot with us!

Each Pin-Up session lasts about 3 hours. First, a professional hair and make-up artist glams each client up in the pin-up style…. red lips, eyeliner wings, victory rolls, etc.! Then they have a 60 – 90-minute session with me, complete with posting tips and tricks!

I do have some pin-up outfits and props that anyone is welcome to use during their shoot, but I encourage everyone to bring at least a couple outfits of their own to be sure they will get to wear something they love.
