Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny West.
Jenny, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My husband and I own our own risk mitigation/security company, Seven Spears Security International, and I own and operate my own business, Jenny West, Certified Massage Therapist. I also facilitate a local community support group called “Elizabeth Networking Group”, with approximately 2,400 members. We promote local small business support and active positive community interaction. We give to those in need, consistently uplift and give to our first responders and public officials and serve each other. Lastly, for the last 2 years my husband and I have been volunteering in an organization that actively rescues children from slavery and sex trafficking.
My husband and I have been married for 29 years and we have a 25-year-old daughter that is a high school English/Creative Writing teacher in Douglas County. My husband and I met both serving in the U.S. Army. He is a retired, 100% service disabled Army Ranger veteran. Being a military wife hasn’t always been easy, but its always been worth it. My husband and I loved serving this great nation. In the military, we had the opportunity to live overseas in 2 different countries, and all over the United States. Those amazing years of experiences and opportunities have offered me a greater perspective on life and a perspective on what is truly important. Oh, and I run a food truck for our county first responders. Its called Rehab 200 and it’s a food truck that deploys during lengthy critical incidents within Elbert County. There are about eight of us that volunteer on that food truck. We train about once a quarter. This helps my husband and I continue to stay busy, as well as continuing to give back to our town, our county, and make a difference on a global scale.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When you put yourself out there, to the public, there will always be people that try and pull you down. I’ve had my fair share of facebook bullies and people meaning to do harm to myself, my friends, my community, my business and my volunteer work. Nevertheless, there are, fortunately, more positive people in my world that have cheered me on along the way, than negative.
My community has some incredibly generous and kind people, and that drowns out the negativity and gives me examples and mentors to look up to. In fact, whenever I encounter negativity, that’s when I know its time to do more for others, be more for others and give more to others. My husband is also an amazing person that offers me incredible advice and help along the way. His support makes all the difference in the world.
Please tell us more about your work. What do you guys do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
With our Seven Spears Security International business, my husband and I spend a great deal of time teaching students, at a well known, intelligence based training facility, on the subjects of how to write a proper Threat Assessment and Threat Management Plan, Protective Operations, Protection of High Net Worth Individuals, and how to utilize a higher level of Customer Service and Soft Skills within the Executive Protection industry. Outside of our teaching roles, we provide Protective Intelligence, Crisis Contingency and Business Continuity Planning, and we augment security teams by providing advance work, both within the United States and overseas.
For my Jenny West, Certified Massage Therapist business, I have been an owner/operator for the last 12 years. I am board-certified and I have been recognized by my community with several local awards. I am strict about keeping up my continuing education and am required to fulfill dozens of hours per year to keep my board certification credential. My specialty is medical massage for the cervical spine, but I also have had great success helping my clients with lower back pain and pathologies. My motto is “headaches fear me”. I have great clients that understand how proper, correct therapeutic massage helps to decrease pain and increase tissue health and wellness. I understand that there is a massage company on just about every corner of every street in every town but luckily I still have clients that drive hours just to come see me. I don’t take that for granted and I take pride in using the best products and giving them the best service that I can. My room is always clean and my appointments are always done with the utmost focus and intent, to assist each client with increased well being.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I’m not sure I would have done much differently. I feel that every experience is meant to be a learning opportunity, both good and not so good, and I’ve sure learned a lot over the years. That experience is priceless and helps me to be a better person, a better community member and a better business owner.
I’ve learned that if you give to others and care about others, the business will always come your way, so I’ve made it a goal to give more than I take. We don’t advertise our businesses publicly, for either of our businesses, so all of our business comes from referrals and through others hearing about us and our work ethic. We are committed to always putting out our very best, every time, no exceptions.
