Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Krabbenhoft.
Leah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It all started in 2014 when I was fed up with headbands sliding off the back of my head. Whether I was working out or walking to class, I couldn’t find a headband that stayed put. Annoyed with the lack of headband choices available in the industry, I pulled out my mom’s sewing machine and began making my own headbands for myself. It wasn’t long before friends and family started asking where I got the headband I was wearing. I saw an opportunity and began hand-producing headbands as a side hustle alongside school. Then, in 2019, I decided to really take my small headband company to the next-level and go all in. Since going all-in, we are growing faster than I can keep up with! We have gone into mass production with our manufacturers and will soon have our very own warehouse in Denver!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Absolutely not! I knew nothing about business, brand-building, or e-commerce when I started. All I knew was that I had a product that was lacking in the industry and I was passionate about. I failed countless times learning how to promote my brand, how to run successful social media advertisements, and creating value for my customers. I have come a long way since day 1 and I am STILL learning! It’s OK if your product isn’t perfect at first and if you don’t feel like you know what you’re doing. The best way to learn is to dive in and just START! You’ll learn along the way. That’s the only way you’ll really learn how to excel is by doing and learning from mistakes.
Please tell us about Soulvation Society.
I am the Founder of Soulvation Headbands – headbands that are meant to stay put! We are a start-up, so things are always crazy and I have my hands dipped in all roles, from marketing to graphic design, I do it all. As we expand our team I’ll be able to focus on the most important tasks as the founder in order to focus on our massive growth. We support women to live their best life in all aspects, from health to self-care to relationships, we encourage our audience to be the best them they can be! We aren’t just a company that sells headbands – we have a mission to inspire others to also follow their dreams!
Who have you been inspired by?
Sara Blakely – CEO & Founder of Spanx! I love her story and how she is the face of her brand. She built her company from her apartment and grew it to a BILLION dollar company with ZERO investors. That’s so impressive and inspiring! I’m so fond of her core values that she incorporates into her company and the culture she has created. She is my ultimate role model. And she is hilarious – follow her on IG!
